You know it's early October when the lower reaches of the iTunes top 1,000 crack out this awful piece of shit :D The Pogues yet to crack the top 1,000 but I suspect it'll be the case once again that Mariah starts ahead before The Pogues take over later - there'll likely be a lot less of an Xmas effect this year than last year though, unless the songs are made 59p again. That said 'Fairytale Of New York' did better than in 2010 even without a price reduction so hopefully that should make at least the top 20 again this year.

It's quite bewildering how these tracks still chart year on year. By my reckoning FONY needs to sell around 70k to pass the million mark so it could be this Xmas that it does it!

This really should be #1 imo. Everybody knows the song, and it's had huge worldwide impact this year. Wherever it charts, it's not going to even closely reflect how well-known the song is imo (I know that's not what the charts are for, but still).

I've never heard it and only seen references to it on Buzzjack. I get that it's a big hit worldwide, but I wouldn't say everyone knows the song.

Leona is holding up rather well tbh! Doing much better than I thought it would on Sunday. Looks like it will comfortably top 10 by the end of the week at the very least!

Precisely this. I've never heard it being mentioned in real life, and haven't even listened to it myself.

Kanye West, Jay Z & Big Sean - Clique #25, Capital have started playing this no wonder it is holding up so well, i never thought Capital will play a song like this :lol:

Capital have started playing urban songs at night-time. I've also heard them play Right By My Side and Take It to the Head.

Ai Se Eu Te Pego was a hit from May onwards in Europe and America, they have left it WAAAY too late to release it here. If it came out here at the same time as the rest of the time it could have grown and made an impact over time, but Gangnam Style (and somehow Euphoria!) stole all it's thunder.

I agree. The hype has died down for it now. But at least it's managing to chart top 100 by the looks of things.

I think realistically Leona is looking at #6 to #8 at the end of the week, Ellie has the album version of her single, hopefully she won't fall that much with her TV appearances.

Yep I agree I'd have said the lower end your range there, but with Alan Carr on Friday that might just push her over the line to bag a #6.

#5, #6 or #7 it's not important which of these positions it is if it tumbles as fast as 'Collide', which in all honesty and I can see it falling worse than. :(

 

I do hope I'm wrong though, it's a very solid song for her.

Ah, so we do get this, just slightly more delayed than the previous two. Odd. (That full stop in the title bothers me, is that meant to be there or is that an iTunes error? Guessing the former as the full stop is on the single cover :P But still seems unnecessary).

The new Taylor Swift is really catchy. Could do very well on hype and previews alone.

Shame to see Michel Telo flopping, most people I know ARE aware of it, especially those that have had a summer holiday this year. It's been on some of the music channels a fair bit but hasn't had any radio support whatsoever, I guess there's only room for one foreign language hit at a time in the UK, and usually not even that :lol:
