Leona's doing very well so far. Taking out the EPs, she currently 2 and 5 on the iTunes albums chart, which is very good. She's also number 1 on Amazon and top 5 with Play.com and HMV.

 

I'm fairly confident she'll open at number 1. Fingers crossed, as it's an excellent album. It would be nice to see her get a third album number 1.

You're right, her CD is 28. I should have been more specific and said her album mp3 is number 1.

Candy seems like it'll be an easy #1 then, with Wiley possibly top ten on the same week. Absolutely amazed at Flaws so far. Bastille getting a top 40 hit would be ace, although it could do even better than that by the looks of it!

Yeah, i was talking about the singles chart. All EP sales count towards the single chart. The only reason iTunes includes the EPs in their albums chart is because the EP has more than one song on it (e.g. the EP for Candy includes the main single alongside three remixes). There are occasions when EP can count toward the album chart (like Gary Barlow's 'Sing' EP earlier this year), i think it had something to with the amount of different tracks included on the EP, but i'm not really sure

Basically;

 

On the official chart:

All EP sales as well as sales of the individual tracks (so in Candy's case, the Candy EP and each individual download of each track on the EP) are combined to the same entry on the singles chart. The only exception to that is if the EP contains 5 or more unique tracks in which case the individual track downloads go to the singles chart but the EP sales go to the albums chart (this doesn't include remixes, so a bundle of 6 remixes would still count to the singles chart).

 

On iTunes:

Any EP that is tagged as an EP on iTunes will appear in the albums chart feed, while individual track downloads from the EP go to the songs feed. There are sometimes 'EPs' that are tagged as 'Single' rather than 'EP' despite containing more than one track, in this case downloads of the 'EP' are combined to track 1 and go towards the songs feed.

 

1 sale of an EP counts as 1 sale in the official chart, but if for example there's a 6 track remixes bundle EP and you for some reason download all 6 remixes separately that would count as 6 sales on the official chart. For EPs with more than one unique track, individual downloads of a track other than the 'main' one (like a B-Side) do *not* count as a sale towards the main track on the official chart, these either go towards a completely separate official chart entry or get discarded completely depending on how the OCC feels.

 

Little bit confusing but that just about covers it. There should be an FAQ about this :P

Queen related albums are returning due to some sort of documentary.

 

I'll be happy if Bat For Lashes stays top 5, the album is pretty good but not as good as Two Suns, mind you I've only heard the new album twice so far, needs to grow on me.

 

I've got a funny feeling M&S are going to nab #2 in the album chart later in the week, with Leona at #3.
