Just heard where their Greatest Hits album has charted. I'm not gonna say where, as I don't think we're allowed to, but i'm surprised as it seemed to be quite consistent during the week.

Me too, Is it definitely true?

Yeah it is true. The person who's posted them has never been wrong.

Oh well I suppose its still alright for a 2nd Greatest Hits collection, hopefully it will be a more consistent seller than Something New!

Oops. Pretty much exactly where I expected it to end up but still :( I guess the Out Of Control era was a one off proper huge success for them and now they're back to Chemistry era sort of success (that album didn't even go top ten did it?)
It peaked at #11. WWTNS only got to #6 too.
Why bother with chart positions, though? All their albums end up being platinum, don't they? And the Out Of Control era was a much deserved huge success.
While top 10 is great im slightly disappointed after been number s 3, 4 and 5 in the midweeks i expected top 7.
Top 10 is good when it is basically a re-hash of a million selling album.
I'm okay with it. It could have been worse I suppose, when you look at where the Il Divo, McFly & Kelly Clarkson GHs charted! With such minimal effort from the girls as well, Top 10 is probably a blessing.
I'm sorry guys but they DID promotion (not much in the week of the album, I'll give you that, but still) they've had a lot of radio backing, the comeback was massively hyped, TV airplay is great too. Everything was looking for a Top 3/5 debut. It's Christmas time, perfect timing for GH releases. They should have done better than #9. They only sold a little over half of what they sold on the Monday (+ pre orders etc..). They did interviews and stuff, more than Kelly Clarkson did. McFly are the only other act who under performed I guess, when we include everything. But them and GA should be fine with the TV specials they have coming up. Kelly Clarkson got to #24 on very, VERY little airplay, ZERO promotion, nothing. (She was only 18k behind GA too - not bad considering the position distance). So it's unfair to put her in the same position as McFly and GA.

I'm a massive fan of the girls, but there is seriously no incentive for me to shell out for this album until it is reduced in price. I'm sure a lot of people feel like that also.

Especially the 1 million + people who own a similar GH collection.

Ok, my man caved. He got me the deluxe box-set for my Birthday (December 10th), but I already knew he was ordering it (not as a present though), so he edited the confirmation email to say it was oversold and forwarded that onto me. Gave me my Birthday present early (cause he's rubbish at keeping presents from me, bless) and there it was with a note saying 'anyone can forge an email'! I feel so gullible, but so so happy. It's so pretty!

Aww bless, glad you've got it ^_^

I'd say GA's promotion was very 'Something New' specific though. Their hyped comeback & press conference was very single / tour orientated as well. They've not done any high profile chat shows (to date) to plug the album on either. They've pretty much relied on the TV advert selling the album (and I guess they're not fooling many people with the "all the hits together for the first time" tag line).

I don't think they've handled the release of 'Ten' particularly well, and considering everything I'm not too surprised it's under-performed (to their previous standards). It has to be considered that their previous GH was a runaway success (#1, 1.2m seller, over 3 years spent in the chart, even back in the Top 10 in 2009). Girls Aloud were apart for a relatively short time too, so they've not exactly come back and made the public feel nostalgic. It's too soon.

I think a lot of things have gone against 'Ten' being the Top 3 smash that people assumed they'd achieve easily. At least now it can be said they've performed 'The Promise' at Royal Variety, and I really hope their documentary gives them a good boost in a couple of weeks.

Aww bless, glad you've got it ^_^

Thanks! To think I was so annoyed when I found out it was 'oversold'.

I would fear now that this album wont be top 20 on Sunday. I dont like how fast the single and album are dropping. And worse still i feat where beautiful cause you love me will peak. I would foolishly like to believe they have enough fans to get it into the top 15 but i am unsure.
