How do Tescos decide what to sell and what not to sell?

They have their own instore charts like Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons etc, - They will always stock the big releases but other ones record companies either 'buy' their act into the charts by offering a good deal/margin if they stock the CD and place it in a certain position - Also record companies fund/buy 'Album Of The Week' slots to make sure their new releases get maximum visability - For example the Tesco album of the week this week is Lawson so considering there are bigger new releases this week then Polydor/Global have obviously made that happen.

I predicted Taylor Swift would sell 65,000 plus last week and some people laughed, with the success of the singles/songs from the album i had a feeling she would have a strong opening.
When it comes to Taylor Swift it isn't like her albums haven't sold well in the UK, they have just trickle sold over the years and ended up with decent totals. Now she has finally got a release right in-terms of promo ect it isn't surprising she is selling well opening week.
Or just that this is easily the poppiest album from her to date. It's got JUST the right mix of Country/Pop. People have obviously taken to the promo singles over here. Possibly the most successful run of promo singles I've personally seen.
Strange that they are not selling Red in Tesco's

Must be just your local one - ours has it.

IRO food products, ISTM they wait to see what I buy regularly, then stop selling it - just to annoy me...

Any news/prediction for Disconnected single by Keane? They won Q-Award for Best video this week...

Huh?

Was in Tesco's last night and they have Muse as album of the week, I just can't see Muse bothering or needing payola.

You can be sure they have a detailed analysis of what their shoppers like and dislike, they are interested only in shipping units.

Interestingly they do not stock last weeks or this weeks most likely number one albums.
