October 30, 201213 yr Twitter Showbiz reporter So pleased for @matt_cardle_uk who is No 7 in midweeks with his fantastic new album The Fire. Boost it to Top 5 here: tinyurl.com/9w54aju
October 30, 201213 yr This Madness discussion on the chart performance of their new material has got me searching the record books. The question is 'has any band appeared in the UK Top 10 (singles or albums) with new material in each of the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s?' My searches have found big names like Cliff Richard, Michael Jackson and Tom Jones have done this. But can anyone find a band that has achieved this? It is possible that should Madness appear in the Top 10 albums on Sunday, they might be the first band or group to have achieved such a feat. The Rolling Stones have done it in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. That's already 5 decades. I don't know if they're planing to release new material at all in the 10s, but that would be a sure top 10 for them as well.
October 30, 201213 yr Twitter @kylieminogue any more performances lined up this week for Abbey Road Sessions in the UK? Midweeks show you at #2! Almost there!!
October 30, 201213 yr Great news for Kylie although no doubt her pre orders would have been really high so i can see her end up at 3 or 4 come sunday but either way still pretty good.
October 30, 201213 yr If Kylie is #2 in the albums, Calvin Harris must be #1. Just need a tweet from Mr. Harris himself to confirm the news. :D I reckon Calvin & Kylie could easily sell at least 50k this week. As for Robbie Williams, I'm just glad there's no sign of Wiley overtaking anytime soon. Please keep it this way. 'Candy' probably looking set to match (or thereabouts) the first week sales of 'Bodies'. I don't think it'll clear 100k. Edit; Actually 'Candy' probably will. It's double that of Swedish House Mafia at #4 and I can't imagine their sales collapsing so sharply this week (I know they have other versions lower down :P ).
October 30, 201213 yr The Rolling Stones have done it in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. That's already 5 decades. I don't know if they're planing to release new material at all in the 10s, but that would be a sure top 10 for them as well. Their compilation 'GRRR!' which contains new material (admittedly only 2 songs though) is out in a few weeks and will easily be top 10. Obviously not new material but The Beatles have been in the top 10 albums at least once in each of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s as well - and that's without having released a new studio album since 1970 :P They haven't had a new *release* go top 10 in the 10s yet - only going top 10 with re-issues of 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 - but it can't be long before another new Beatles compilation goes top 10. (The Rolling Stones have also been in the top 10 albums at least once in each of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s, as a re-issue of 'Exile On Main St.' got to #1 in 2010. In fact they've been at #1 at least once in all of those decades except the 00s where they stalled at #2 three times!) EDIT: And Elvis Presley has had at least one new release (but again obviously not always new material) go top 10 in each of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s - I doubt anyone could match that. October 30, 201213 yr Glad to see Kylie doing so well, I really thought it would be a low top ten fan purchase at best!
October 30, 201213 yr Anyway glad to see Calvin (presumably) #1 - would be very shocked if Kylie was outselling him so if she's #2 he must be #1, not Taylor. With two #1s and four #2s taken off it already it would have been a little bit of an underperformance for '18 Months' to not go to #1 but I still had my doubts. Matt at #7, could drop out of the top 10 over the week of course but a positive start.
October 30, 201213 yr Tyler James #38   Paul Kramer @Paulhitsheet Tyler James album midweek.... what kind of f***ery is this? #38 with a bullet?
October 30, 201213 yr He and Matt cardle should have swapped places... Indeed! Can't believe its off to such a poor start, Really thought he might become more of an album seller
October 30, 201213 yr That is pretty impressive for Matt Cardle, if he can stay top 10 I'm sure he will be happy. I actually like the 1st single from the album.
October 30, 201213 yr Peter Andre's new one is apparently doing well on todays update, according to him (he's on Radio 1 right now and said that "it's doing very well, much much better than I thought it would but I'm not allowed to say where".) Whoops :P Edited October 30, 201213 yr by Childish Bambino
October 30, 201213 yr Hope we get stuff beyond top 40 in the albums this week! Only expecting top 100 (top 75 at a push though) for LorQueen!
