December 10, 201212 yr CHVRCHES & Kodaline (I overlooked them, All I Want is brilliant  ) are my favourites from that list, surprised at the lack of Bastille & The Neighbourhood as has been mentioned, I guess they think they'll get enough support anyway? December 10, 201212 yr It was mentioned on the last page, I was one of the bloggers who contributed to the list! Surprised that The 1975 didn't make the BBC List. I thought the blitz of publicity for them recently had guaranteed them a place, but evidently not. Nice to see two Irish bands on the list - expected to see Kodaline there, put Little Green Cars are a welcome inclusion. Quite a few guitar bands there - £20 says that there'll be countless "BBC says guitars are back" news items tomorrow. But not banjos so Public Service Broadcasting miss out :(
December 10, 201212 yr CHVRCHES :cheer: :cheer: Songs like "The mother we share" and "Lies" definetely deserve more attention. Edited December 10, 201212 yr by N-S
December 11, 201212 yr Was listening to the main show last night, and hadn't heard Arlissa before, but Sticks & Stones is a great track. Really like a lot of the acts on this list other than the ones I'd heard plenty before; Arlissa, Laura Mvula, Peace, Tom Odell all sounds very good.
December 13, 201212 yr The Weeknd to win OBVIOUSLY. Been looning for him for 1.5 years. Seems a bit odd that they included him only now. But then again he's now *mainstream* so maybe they used to think he didn't have potential to go further?.. King Krule has been around for what seems ages though too... Angel Haze, AlunaGeorge or The Weeknd to win tbh.
December 22, 201212 yr Having been listening to the nominated acts all week, I felt it was time to make my prediction: 01 Haim 02 Tom Odell 03 Laura Mvula 04 Kodaline 05 Angel Haze The Weeknd could definitely be looking at a top 5 position though, purely because of the fanbase he's already got. I mean Skrillex finished fourth last year, having already achieved some decent hits in the UK/worldwide. In other news, Tom Odell has been announced as the Critics' Choice winner for the 2013 awards - beating Laura Mvula and AlunaGeorge. For me, the Critics' Choice award is the better of the two to come out on top from - so Odell's going to have a fantastic year ahead of him. Last year saw Emeli Sande (!!!!) beat Maverick Sabre and Sound of 2013 winner Michael Kiwanuka; so perhaps only one of Odell, Mvula and AlunaGeorge will feature in the So13 shortlist.
December 30, 201212 yr Pardon the double post, but the topic needed bumping. According to Huw Stephens, only the top 3 are going to be announced this year - #3 on Wednesday (2nd), #2 on Thursday (3rd) and #1 on Friday (4th January). Bit peeved really, 2003-2009 had the T10, 2010 had the T6 and 2011-2012 had the T5; it's getting fewer and fewer. Thus, predictions'll need to be changed. I'm now going with: [*] 01. Angel Haze [*] 02. Kodaline [*] 03. Tom Odell
December 30, 201212 yr The Radio 1 schedule says that 5, 4 and 3 will all be announced on Wednesday. Edited December 30, 201212 yr by zenon
December 30, 201212 yr I think Tom Odell could be in for Ed Sheeran type success to be honest (maybe on a lower scale and not as widespread).
December 30, 201212 yr I don't understand why the verses of this sound like Busted, and the chorus sounds like NSync. If it was all like NSync it would be the first Wand Erection song I'd listen to out of choice.
December 30, 201212 yr Author I don't understand why the verses of this sound like Busted, and the chorus sounds like NSync. If it was all like NSync it would be the first Wand Erection song I'd listen to out of choice. ??? -x- I think Tom Odell is likely to win this now (after the Critics Choice award). I'm fairly sure the top 5 will be the same people i listed on the previous page, but in a different order Edited December 30, 201212 yr by SevenSeize
December 31, 201212 yr CHVRCHES in at #5... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20780332 Edited December 31, 201212 yr by 2013 Thermometer
December 31, 201212 yr So far so decent. Really not a fan of 'Lies' but 'The Mother We Share' is great, interested to see what else CHVRCHES have under their sleeve.
December 31, 201212 yr YES!!!!! So so so so so happy, I'm obsessed with CHVRCHES, was hoping they'd sneak into the top 5!
December 31, 201212 yr I like Tom Odell but I'm not sure his stuff is commercial enough for huge success
