I get a serious feeling about Taylor Swift's IKYWT being the first #1 of 2013.

In terms of what I hope will become a hit in 2013, 'Glassheart' is the obvious song. There has been a bit of online hype surrounding it for over a year now and it's pretty much unanimous amongst fans that it should be the 3rd single and will hopefully achieve 'Where Have You Been'-style success.

I also hope that Bruno Mars will have another successful album campaign in the New Year and Beyonce should make a return which will hopefully be a lot bigger than her 4 era.

EDIT: Btw, I might as well add that I don't THINK 'Glassheart' will be a hit - I just HOPE. I'm sure Syco will f*** up her career more and maybe not even choose it as a single.

50 Cent - 'My Life'. Featuring Eminem & Adam Levine (of Maroon 5). #1 on US iTunes. Don't see it doing as well in the UK per say, but Maroon 5 are at the prime of their careers nowadays it seems, and material from Eminem and 50 Cent is in demand; could be a decent seller. Music video suggests it's getting a release on December 9th, which I assume is for the UK (as the US already have it).
I agree actually that 'I Knew You Were Trouble.' could go to #1, it's doing extremely well already without a video (IIRC). It's a much better song than 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' although I could see myself getting bored of it quickly.
I'm gonna put it out there and predict big things for Skylar Grey 'C'mon Let Me Ride'! Like 'f*** You' by Cee-Lo sort of "big"!

I came in here to say C'Mon Let Me Ride! First time I heard it I thought 'big hit', it has that sound about it where you just it's a matter of when not if it's big.

I agree with I Knew You Were Trouble too, maybe not quite #1 but it could easily be big in the same way We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together was.

As nobody has mentioned it yet: Will.I.Am + Britney Spears - Scream And Shout.

I really hope not lol. It's like a fungus that won't disappear :D . It will probably sell due to their notoriety. It's not bad, but it could be much better. It'll probably hit mid top 10

I'm hoping Haim - Don't Save Me will be a big hit next year.

I think Loveable Rogues are going to be absolutely huge. They've been gigging loads this year and there's been so much buzz around them since they left 'Britain's Got Talent' and I think when they release 'Love Sick' as their first single in the spring after they've done the Olly Murs tour it's gonna blow up for them. The rest of their material I've heard for their album sounds promising too!

I really hope 2013 is the year Ed Drewett breaks through as well. I know they're planning a big launch for him next year so fingers crossed he finally gets that hit he deserves!

Well, most of the obvious ones have been mentioned (Thrift Shop, Please Don't Say You Love Me, It's Time, C'mon Let Me Ride). Maybe 'Let Her Go' by Passenger can cross over and become a minor hit at some point? I can see Sean Kingston's 'Rum and Raybans' being a hit as well

As for some album tracks, Drinking From The Bottle should be massive (think it's released in January, could have a shot at #1 if sales are low enough). And also David Guetta/Ne-Yo/Akon - Play Hard might eventually go Top 5 if it gets a release

There seems to be quite alot of potential big hits (and possible #1s) but the only song I'm sure that will be #1 is Thrift Shop IMO.

I have thought of another song though Vato Gonzalez vs Lethal Bizzle & Donae'O - Not A Saint. I actually think this could reach #1 in early January. The official video has only been on youtube for 2 weeks and has almost 3 million views already :o

I'll sound like a broken record but I am still surprised no label has released I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li (Remix). From its massive success in Europe (including being #2 in Ireland only 2 months ago) it seems an obvious hit IMO, especially as I could see Radio 1 backing it. Its not even available on itunes so you never know. Its annoying when big European hits aren't given the chance here.

On a side note, I am thoroughly glad this thread was started, I've discovered quite a few songs from it. :w00t:

Just listened to Not A Saint, i can see Radio 1 playing it loads, but it would be SUCH a random #1, probably even moreso than "Promises" Maybe a Top 5/10 hit though

Probably a few songs from here will be hits next year: http://www.billboard.com/charts/alternative-songs#

Take A Walk? I WISH.

We Come Running might have a chance though

Having looked through all the suggestions, the tracks that stand out as the most likely to become big hits in 2013 are:

01. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat Wanz - Thrift Shop

02. Icona Pop feat Charli XCX - I Love It

03. Gabrielle Aplin - Please Don't Say You Love Me

04. Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (so late to the party, UK - if it's released!!! :drama: )

05. Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble.

06. Samnatha Jade - What You've Done To Me

07. Imagine Dragons - It's Time

08. Guy Sebastian feat. Lupe Fiasco - Battle Scars

09. 50 Cent feat. Eminem & Adam Levine - My Life

10. Skylar Gray - C'mon Let Me Ride!

11. will.i.am feat. Britney Spears - Scream & Shout

12. Passenger - Let Her Go

So do we reckon the biggest selling single of 2013 is listed in the above list?[/forwardthinking] :D

You never know. I think some of us could've predicted the biggest-selling song of this year this time last year.

Thrift Shop, My Life and C'mon Let Me Ride are all potential #1's with the right exposure imo! Could be a big year for Eminem, albeit as a featured artist!

He's releasing an album next year, so hopefully a big year for him as a lead artist aswell. I'm pretty sure he's doing all these collabs to remind people he still exists.

I have a feeling Tom Odell - Another Love could become a big hit...all it needs is some well placed use in a trailer or an advert or a season finale of something...

Along with the Pink and Rihanna album tracks he's featured on recently too (although I doubt either will be singles!)

I'm not sure My Life will but the other two certainly could. I actually think quite a few of those in Hits list could be potential big hits/#1s if given the right promo though I'd imagine Gabrielle/Imagine Dragons will help their albums more but you never know.

Will.I.Am/Britney is now out next week so probably won't be #1 now though it'll probably hang around in the New Year.

Hits - I agree with most of your list but I very much doubt Samantha will get a release here since its a X Factor winners single and can't see it doing anything outside Australia/NZ (though I'd LOVE it to).
