Posted November 30, 201212 yr Here are 10 very good examples: Shakira - "Whenever Wherever" Ke$ha - "Tik Tok" Robbie Williams - "Angels" Mariah Carey - "All I Want For Christmas Is You" Katy Perry - "Firework" Kelly Clarkson - "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" Maroon 5 - "Moves Like Jagger" Oasis - "Wonderwall" LeAnn Rimes - "How Do I Live?" Wham! - "Last Christmas" - the biggest ever of any act mentioned! Can you think of any more good examples?
November 30, 201212 yr Not sure about this one, but Nero's Me and You or Guilt may have sold more than Promises. They have quite similar sales regardless.
November 30, 201212 yr I could be way off the mark for this one Eminem Ft Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie.
November 30, 201212 yr Author I could be way off the mark for this one Eminem Ft Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie. You're right, as his next biggest seller "Stan" definitely isn't over a million.
November 30, 201212 yr I could be way off the mark for this one Eminem Ft Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie. For Eminem, yes. And that reminds me - Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera with Moves Like Jagger.
November 30, 201212 yr Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want to Have Fun Charted at #2 in 1983 and at #4 in 1994. Presumably this is her biggest-selling hit even though she had a #1 in 1985 with 'We Are the World' (a collaboration charity single).
Contentious as the 1994 track is an alternative version, substantially different, from the 1984 version so it's unlikely that sales would be combined certainly in the OCC's eyes I'd imagine. :o If you split the versions then her biggest seller is "Time After Time". Both oustsold "We Are The World" (in the 80s anyway)
November 30, 201212 yr Jason Derulo. Has two number one hits but Ridin' Solo (#2) is his best-selling hit. Katy Perry. Firework (#3) outsold IKAG and CG. Labrinth. Earthquake is currently a bigger seller than BYB however that could change in the next year Chris Brown. Went to #1 with Turn Up The Music but Beautiful People, Yeah 3x and Don't Wake Me Up were bigger Florence and the Machine? Not sure about this one but You Got The Love is still a bigger seller than Spectrum am I right? Chipmunk. Unfortunately Champion was bigger than Oopsy Daisy. Jay-Z. Empire State Of Mind was much bigger than Run This Town La Roux. In For The Kill sold more than Bulletproof Calvin Harris? Not sure about the sales of I'm Not Alone but Feel So Close is over 450k iirc which should be his highest total to date. Take That Part 2. Rule The World bigger than every other TT song since the 2006 reunion
November 30, 201212 yr Not sure about this one, but Nero's Me and You or Guilt may have sold more than Promises. They have quite similar sales regardless. Both of them have outsold 'Promises' - insane that a #15 hit that didn't exactly have HUGE longevity outsold a #1 from the same year. ('Guilt' is rightfully their biggest seller).
December 1, 201212 yr Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy Madness - Baggy Trousers a-ha - Take On Me Status Quo - Rockin' All Over The World Roxy Music - Dance Away
December 1, 201212 yr Can we not include Christmas songs? They're at an unfair advantage, considering that they have been given majority of their sales ever since downloads were included now! But interesting topic! Will try and think of some myself :D
December 1, 201212 yr Maybe Flo Rida. It depends how much Low has sold. It was his biggest hit, but since it was 2008 with lower sales something else might've outsold it by now. For Labritnth you got Earthquake as his biggest-seller atm, although Beneath Your Beautiful could overtake it in the future. Timbaland and Keri Hilson. Maybe Apologize and Knock You Down have outsold The Way I Are. And Ciara, I'm sure Love Sex Magic has outsold Goodies. Also Pussycat Dolls, I think Jai Ho could've outsold Don't Cha since it's 2005 vs. 2009. And maybe Gorillaz? If either Clint Eastwood or Feel Good sold more than DARE.
December 1, 201212 yr Maybe Flo Rida. It depends how much Low has sold. It was his biggest hit, but since it was 2008 with lower sales something else might've outsold it by now. Low certainly felt bigger than Good Feeling, but I think GF is his highest seller (700k) thanks to massive sales in 2011/12
December 1, 201212 yr Has 'Single Ladies' outsold 'If I Were A Boy'? If so, that's another one to add here. 'Crazy In Love' felt so much bigger and is probably her signature hit, but I was shocked it was "only" on about 450k when they did the OCC Beyoyo countdown on one of the music channels... Also; 'Listen' and 'Irreplaceable' have possibly sold more (than CIL) thanks to their resurgences in the dl era. But not too sure on those ones... Pretty sure 'With Ur Love' is at least close to overtaking 'Swagger Jagger', 'Want U Back' could be closer than we think too... but again not checked on recent sales for these, so I dunno (probably actually nowhere near ).
December 1, 201212 yr I believe Kelly Clarkson's Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) (#8) has now outsold My Life Would Suck Without You (#1) Edit: It was already mentioned in the 1st thread  Edited December 1, 201212 yr by West
December 1, 201212 yr Has 'Single Ladies' outsold 'If I Were A Boy'? If so, that's another one to add here. IIWAB was on 683,033 at 14/1/12 (*), well ahead of SL - but what about 'Telephone' with Lady Gaga for 2nd place? It was on ~653k on 17/3/12 when it fell out of my tracking range. (*) I'd estimate maybe 30k since then. Pretty sure 'With Ur Love' is at least close to overtaking 'Swagger Jagger', 'Want U Back' could be closer than we think too... but again not checked on recent sales for these, so I dunno (probably actually nowhere near ). AFAICS, SG is still significantly ahead of WUL, with WAB *way* back on only half their sales.
December 1, 201212 yr You could count Emeli Sande, Next To Me has sold more than Read All About It and Beneath Your Beautiful (even though they're features).
December 1, 201212 yr If we include featured singles: Big Girls Don't Cry has probably outsold Gettin' Over You. I think Mama Do the Hump has sold more than Heart Skips a Beat. And Broken Strings has sold more than Maneater (maybe even I'm Like a Bird has).
