Lucy has announced that she plans to release her album in March 2013, the follow-up to her debut album "Top Room At The Zoo".

Lucy Spraggan has revealed that she is hoping to release her debut studio album in March.

The X Factor contestant explained that she has begun working on the LP since being forced to leave the ITV competition due to illness.

"The plan is to write an album and have it released by spring, around March time," she told The Sun. "I've already got about 200 songs written up and ready to go, although obviously not all of those will make it."

Spraggan stated that some tracks may be inspired by her experience on The X Factor. "I haven't written about X Factor yet, but I always write about my experiences, so I'm sure that I will," she said.

However, Spraggan explained that she has yet to secure an official record deal, but is expecting to do so in the near future. "I haven't got a record deal yet, but hopefully I will in the next few months," she added.

Spraggan has been tipped to return to the X Factor stage and perform during the live final this weekend. She recently confirmed that she will not be part of the X Factor tour in 2013.

I haven't been following this year's series of the x factor and most contestants in it, but I've listened to a couple of songs from her and she sounds brilliant! looking forward to it. :D
She was my favourite until she started going out on the razz with Rylan and blowing her chances. Tbh she wasn't gonna win anyway but she might as well have pulled out before the live shows with her attitude.
Why isn't her first album back on iTunes et al yet? It was only removed because she was part of the show thus giving her 'an unfair advantage', but that hasn't applied for weeks. Actually one of my favourite albums of the year too!

Spraggan's back! X Factor's Lucy signs record deal with Columbia ahead of headline tour

She was one of last year's favourites to win The X Factor, until she had to bow out of the competition due to illness.

But when Lucy told her fans that they hadn't seen the last of her she wasn't wrong, as she's just signed a major record contract with Columbia.

The singer/songwriter is set to release her debut album later on this year as well as a headline UK tour next month.

Record deal: X Factor's Lucy Spraggan has signed a contract with Columbia and is set to release her debut album later this year

Lucy was picked for the singing competition last year after getting a standing ovation while performing her self-penned track Last Night.

She was then put through to live shows by mentor Tulisa but ultimately finished in ninth place after dropping out due to ill health.

The 21-year-old from Sheffield has clearly been busy since her X Factor exit, putting in the studio hours so that her album will be ready this year.

'I'm really excited to be working with Columbia, it is such a respected label with an incredible heritage,' said Lucy.

'To be signed to the company who have worked with great icons like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen and the newer generation of artists like Calvin Harris and Rita Ora is amazing - I can't wait,' she added.

Proving her enduring popularity, Lucy's tour has already sold out with six extra dates now added due to popular demand.

'Lucy is a refreshingly honest and naturally gifted storyteller who walks to the beat of her own drum,' said Co-President of Columbia Alison Donald.

Put her through: Tulisa chose Lucy as one of her three acts to put through to the live shows, and admitted to being 'gutted' when she left

'Her song-writing very much fits in with the tradition and artistry of the Columbia ethos and we are absolutely delighted to have her on board,' she continued.

Despite leaving half way through the X Factor live shows, Lucy returned for live final in December.

She was over-the-moon to be reunited with best pal Rylan Clarke after they developed a close friendship during the show.

Clearly pleased with her new record deal, Lucy tweeted on Wednesday, saying: 'I am incredibly proud to tell you... I am officially signed to Columbia Records! Prepare for some music!'

Woo! :cheer: Can't wait to hear new music from her, although I hope she stays true to herself and isn't turned into some other blend-in pop act.

Loved her version of Titanium on X Factor.

Yeah, I'm sure she will stay true to herself, she doesn't seem like the type to just do what others are doing.

Lucy was interviewed on This Morning today and confirmed the album would be released in September and I think she confirmed that 'Last Night' and 'Tea and Toast' would both be on the album! :D
Lighthouse is an excellent start to her second album, i really love this song and didnt like her previous material.
Love 'Lighthouse' but I think they truly screwed up not releasing 'Last Night' and making her album available again after the contest - All hype she built up disappeared as has shown with this single which will probably enter at #27 tomorrow and plummet without a trace.

Lucy has announced that her new album which will be released at the end of September will be called 'Join The Club' and will contain 18 tracks. 16 tracks Lucy wrote alone and she co-wrote the other 2!
Looking forward to it, especially if it's along the same lines of Lighthouse!

I've just bought the deluxe album from HMV. I'm about to start listening, but the case and booklet is absolutely fantastic! So unique and I've never seen an album that is presented the way the 'Join the Club' deluxe album is!
