Posted December 4, 201212 yr http://www.thestranger.com/binary/447d/film-wallflower-570.jpg Gonna get round to compiling my list soon, but 2012 has been a good year for films I think! SO MANY Blockbusters! 2013 looks set to be even better though. But if you have a list you wanna share, get compiling and post in here. I will be shortly!
December 4, 201212 yr A quick look through my IMDB ratings from this year, I came up with this list, the top 6 are definitely in order, the rest probably could change around a bit. I would have did 20, but The Hobbit is out in like 9 days and this will CLEARLY be up there!! 1. Avengers 2. The Dark Knight Rises 3. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 4. The Hunger Games 5. Brave 6. Rock Of Ages 7. The Amazing Spider-Man 8. Total Recall 9. Underworld: Awakening 10. Ted 11. Battleship 12. Silver Linings Playbook 13. The Lucky One 14. 21 Jump Street 15. This Means War 16. Resident Evil: Retribution 17. Man on a Ledge 18. Safe House 19. John Carter
December 4, 201212 yr Prometheus > The Hunger Games >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I am obviously forgetting like a thousand films and if I saw Cloud Atlas it SO would've been on top. :(
December 4, 201212 yr I think I wait until I see The Hobbit next week, its got to be among my top 10. At the moment, my favourite film of the year has to be Skyfall.
December 4, 201212 yr At the moment, my favourite film of the year has to be Skyfall. Agreed! I haven't seen that many new films this year, but I'd imagine any would find it hard to top Skyfall!
December 4, 201212 yr The Hunger Games The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 The Five Year Engagement Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D Keith Lemon: The Movie Silver Linings Playbook Puss in Boots Not in order but I think they're the only seven films I've seen at the cinema this year, don't go as often as I'd like but should be going to see 'Seven Psychopaths' and 'Life Of Pi' before the end of the year, the latter I'm expecting to be really good. The Hunger Games was easily the best. Silver Linings Playbook was pretty disappointing given the critical acclaim. Two ends of the Jennifer Lawrence scale right there. 2013 should be good, been waiting soo long for another Monsters Inc. movie.
December 4, 201212 yr The three films I've seen this year and therefore my faves Skyfall Hunger Games The Dictaror. Only movie I'm really anticipating for 2013 is The Great Gatsby (purely for the fact that it conveniently ties in with my A Level English Lit exam on the book)
December 4, 201212 yr Skyfall The Hunger Games 21 Jump Street Prometheus The Dark Knight Rises Jumper The Dictator Ted The Avengers Resident Evil Retribution Those are my top ten I think. Nothing else springs to mind that I've seen so far this year that I really enjoyed. A few films (Haywire, Cabin In The Woods) that were quite well critical received that I watched I didn't really see the fuss over. Anyway on to my list there's only two films released this year that I want to see (one being The Hobbit). Skyfall was really good, almost flawless, but easily the best film I've seen this year. I was shocked by how much I enjoyed The Hunger Games. It was bloody awesome to be honest. The story had me engrossed and the only bits I wasn't keen on was the love story beginning halfway through the film. 21 Jump Street was also very good. Very cliched, but Channing Tatum was soooo good, and Jonah Hill was as brilliant as ever. The Avengers is quite low down on my list, I just didn't massively get it. I watched the new X-Men a few nights before and I thought it was much better. Perhaps I needed to have seen some more of the films except the original Iron Man idk. It didn't really do much for me though.
December 5, 201212 yr I need to compile my list but 'The Perks Of Being A Wallflower' is definitely my number 1. I watched it 5 times! I loved the part when they dance to the song Come on Eileen
December 5, 201212 yr Author 'Jumper'? I assume you mean 'Looper' and not the Rachel Bilson/Hayden Christensen film? :P Edit: Oh my days! Jason you've gone up slightly in my estimations! Perks is an excellent, mainstream, indie flick. I preferred it to 'Ruby Sparks' easily. It's fighting 'Looper' as my favourite non- batman/avengers film!

It's fighting 'Looper' as my favourite non- batman/avengers film! Oh! Thank you. ^_^ This American film has a very British sensibility imo. I love the tracklisting. December 5, 201212 yr Oh I forgot 'Looper'! Incredible as well. AND Cabin in the Woods too! It's really becoming embarrassing how forgetful I can be. Edited December 5, 201212 yr by Conderella
December 5, 201212 yr Marina Abramovic: The Artist Is Present >>>>> The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, Untouchable & Looper are up there too though. Prometheus > The Hunger Games >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I am obviously forgetting like a thousand films and if I saw Cloud Atlas it SO would've been on top. :( cannot wait to see Cloud Atlas. Hoping that Life of Pi, Amour and The Impossible live up to expectations also. Edited December 5, 201212 yr by JakeWild
December 5, 201212 yr 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' >>>>>> Also loved 'No' (London Film Fest, with Gael Garcia Bernal, out next year, LOOK OUT FOR IT), 'Tabu', 'Sightseers', 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', 'On the Road', 'Keep the Lights On', 'The Avengers' and 'ParaNorman' (EASILY the best animation of the year). 'Amour' is CRUSHING Jake watch yourself (Panting in anticipation of 'Les Mis' and 'Zero Dark Thirty')
December 5, 201212 yr The only massive films that I've seen in 2012 are The Dark Knight Rises and Skyfall, both at the independent cinema! They don't show many big films there, but I loved both. :D
December 5, 201212 yr 'ParaNorman' (EASILY the best animation of the year). YES YES YES I posted this in my review of 2012 thread but my top 10: 10 Dark Shadows 09 The Pirates 08 The Muppets 07 The Hunger Games 06 Skyfall 05 The Iron Lady 04 Prometheus 03 The Amazing Spider-Man 02 ParaNorman 01 The Avengers Dark Knight Rises was just outside the top 10 and provided my 2nd biggest surprise of the year (after Skyfall) given I HATED both the previous films.
December 5, 201212 yr The Hobbit will be top, unless somehow it massively disappoints - which I don't imagine will be the case - but that aside, the films I've seen from this year (I don't think I've forgotten anything but I might have), in order: The Hunger Games Skyfall Ted The Dark Knight Rises All were very good though, Dark Knight and Skyfall surprised me as I'd never really thought that highly of their respective franchises, both very high quality films, Ted was hilarious and The Hunger Games was just epic and got me loving a new thing for a while.
December 5, 201212 yr I barely get any time to go to the cinema any more, but my favourite of what I have seen has to be The Hunger Games (even if the book was a bit better). Thanks to a transatalntic flight I can also add The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers & Ted to this list. The former was good, if not a patch on its predecessor, I was expecting Ted to be funnier, but it was still good for what it was. The Avengers was brilliant though, almost perfect for a superhero film, that would probably be second best. Also, Prometheus & Judge Dredd were two films I didn't know much about before seeing them, but they turned out to be really good as well.
