Rihanna is absolutely huge right now in the UK, it's unbelievable, She can release absolutely anything and it will enter the top 40, she is probably the biggest star worldwide now, Maybe Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga might have something to say about that though, i know Taylor Swift is huge in the US but i'm not sure about worldwide.

I think Gaga might be bigger in Asia and some other places but right now Rihanna is the biggest worldwide star I'd say. But then to be fair Bieber and Gaga have only just started in comparison (only a couple of albums each) so it will be interesting to see if they can maintain phenomenal album sales later in their careers.

No way will James Arthur hit 500K, the days when X Factor singles sold half a million in a week are most definitely OVER. :D

Given the #2 is barely going to sell more than 50-60K this week, not that impressive at all really. On for similar sales to Little Mix at the moment (possibly a little lower).

It seems you're not just blind, Doctor. If you think James Arthur is going to be any where near Little Mix's figure you're disillusioned. 400k bare minimum, but I'm sure it will clear 500k

1. James Arthur Impossible 1.0000000000

2 will.i.am Scream & Shout (feat. Britney Spears) 0.1250000000

3 Bruno Mars Locked Out of Heaven 0.0937500000

4 Gabrielle Aplin The Power of Love 0.0625000000

The lead won't be sustained, but I agree it will be higher than Little Mix (a lot higher). Hopefully the first day sales info will leak tomorrow.

By the way, does anyone know how big of a lead that Little Mix made last year?

Taylor Swift's past couple of singles have done extremely well worldwide. I'd say Justin Bieber is bigger than all of them. The charts really do not reflect his popularity, and Justin Bieber is more than a pop star, he's a teen idol, media figure, etc.

I don't remember ANY X Factor winner getting that big a lead on iTunes before, and certainly not Little Mix, he's definitely gonna beat their first week.
Let's not forget that the market was weak last week, the No 1 download song (Bruno Mars) sold just 56k, so taking that into account Will.i.am would only need to be on course for about 60k throughout the week to be No 1 normally. I know Arthur's lead is massive at the moment and I don't doubt he's on for a good 200k plus week, I think 500k plus is a GROSS exaggeration. I may of course be proved wrong come Sunday.

Crazy lead but he won't do anywhere near 400k

More like 230K. He will for sure beat Little Mix.

I reckon what with drop off over the week (but possible strong physical sales) he'll do probably do around 400k... he's selling out the number 2 by 8:1 according to the figures on Kworb

500k is a GROSS exaggeration, #2 sales for last week just passed 56k, I should imagine #2 sales are pretty low at the moment. James does have a big lead over #2, his physical is not out till Weds. I'm sure the track will start to slow down, as the other tracks will start to increase lower down the iTunes chart. I still think James will probably sell anywhere around 230k to 260k, just have to see what his opening sales will be tomorrow, they are bound to get leaked on the net, or even in the Sun.

As you said earlier, the physicals for Gabrielle must have kept her ahead of Bruno, only just. I love to know her exact physicals sold, that would put Bruno Mars sales into perspective.

Stay is doing fantastically well  . She just keeps getting better and better, this song is one of her best ballads in a long time, possibly my favourite ever! I really feared they'd go with "Right Now" next because it's already charted in a few places but I'm glad they haven't done yet. That song reminds me of Roc Me Out and Rude Boy. This one reminds me of something by Adele, possibly Rihanna's "Hometown Glory"... And yes, I really do find it THAT good. :D

Oh look who's got 2 songs in the top 10 again. It's not even surprising when this happens any more! I could swear the last time I checked 'Stay' was only around #22 but of course it's top 10 :P It sounded like a pretty dull song on X Factor but I will reserve full judgement until I hear the studio version.

'Kiss You' has a really strong chorus but the verses don't seem to match it at all. As with 'Stay' I am basing that off the live version although I've heard the chorus of the studio version from the XF TalkTalk sponsor ads.

Unsurprised at Shontelle stalling outside the top 10. She'll be lucky to beat Damien's #19 re-entry last year even with James doing better than Little Mix.

Very pleased to see 'Clown' still as low as #22, hopefully it will be her lowest peaking single to date. I wish she wouldn't release singles like this, the 'Heaven' sound is much, much better for her but you can just tell she'll never release a song like that again now :(

James' lead is now bigger than I'd expected it to get. No idea what to expect from his sales now, he should definitely top 200k but probably still less than 300k? It does depend on the physicals more than the downloads.

You mean like Rihanna?

Her album is my favourite of the year, but I agree that it would be nice to hear her record something like Heaven again. Clown was obviously nothing more than to keep her album a float over Christmas, just like Hurts Like Heaven and Give Me Love.

Given that Clown is the 8th single off the album, it's unsurprising that it isn't doing too well.
Wonder if James can give The Justice Collective a run for their money next week - the battle for xmas no1 should be great!!

*Fifth - Read All About It (Part III) wasn't a single and Beneath You Beautiful and Wonder aren't officially her singles. That said, even for a fifth single it's doing alright, especially how well her album has done.
