Poppy and AJ

leaving. I've read previously that

the actress that plays Kirsty

was *wanting* to leave so I don't think she was "axed". She said she wanted to come back to the role at a latter date or something like that.

Alice is leaving as well after Michael gets killed, which make me think even more that she's gonna kill him.

Carl is obviously gonna get killed off, no one cares about him so there's no need for the door of return to be open

also Dexter's mum and dad are leaving too

LOL at Calum's one man attempt to convince the world that Kirsty is somehow an ssential character to the show. :D I'm not using spoilers since we've all read who's going anyway. I like Kierston Wareing as an actress but the material EE has given her has been truly shitty and Kirsty won't be missed too much. It's not exactly a Vanessa situation. Poppy on the other hand is quite a fabulously well written and acted character who has a real place in the show and she will be missed in my humble opinion.

In other news, Sam and Ava axed too. Dexter stays.

Yeah I agree, Kirsty was really stereotyped too much too quickly... She's a great actress, but not a good character and totally ruined by the writing.

Alice leaving just as she's becoming a DECENT character. She was definitely helped by being paired with Michael / Janine.

Pretty pleased Carl, AJ, Sam and Ava are all set to leave, especially Carl who is DREADFUL. Shame Poppy is leaving, although I'm not surprised as she's barely been involved in any particularly big storylines.

Nice to see they're having a big reshuffle. Tamwar out next.

Random questions but, where does Big Mo live atm??

I know it's only your opinion but the irony of this make me laugh.

Kat mentions her living in The Vic. Is Mo still in the show? We haven't seen her in months!

Wasn't she revealed to be "the vegetable thief" after months of not being in the show and then completely disappeared again?

I haven't watched in 6 months but what a damp squib the 'Cora's long lost daughter' storyline turned out to be if Ava is going so quickly.

WHERE IS CORA???

I don't think Big Mo's contract got renewed last year iirc. And now she just makes sporadic appearances  It's a shame she hasn't had a proper 'goodbye' etc! I love her.

did she not file for bankruptcy in August in real life?

Yup. Hopefully the new producer brings her back. I liked having Mo in the background and what they did to Laila Morse (not renewing the contract and just bringing her back for shitty filler eps about stolen vegetables) was pretty disgraceful.

But if she does come back I hope they remember she's related to Kat. They never have any scenes together!

It's a shame about Poppy really, I mean realistically she isn't a huge addition to the show and it won't get worse without her - but I think characters like hers are necessary to soaps. Light-hearted, fun personalities who often just sit in the background help to morph soaps into feeling like real situations. I know we've got Kim but I feel like Poppy was a really good addition, and a good actress also.

I don't really think there's anything I can add that Jark hasn't as I pretty much agree with it all, especially Kierston Wareing - great actress, left with nowhere to go for her character.

LOLWUT

Danny Dyer

has joined the cast and is the new owner of the Queen Vic. WHAT A DEMOTION

And he is playing the role of Shirley's brother. Shirley's family living in and running the Vic?

I suppose it'll probably give Shirley more prominence as a character, although YAWN if she gets back with Phil and it gives him an ounce of power over the Vic. :drama:
I'm just glad Alfie will no longer be the landlord! Why hasn't SHARON tried to get The Vic back? I miss her behind the bar.
