She will not last long... no personality, always wears, styled the same etc, melancholic music...... give her maybe one more album that will do OK, then out.......

Are you serious? :o She may well have no charisma and in fact her stage manner is pretty annoying but she is mega talented. She is first and foremost a songwriter, not some drone like Leona or Alexandra who relies on other people's songs, so her longevity is assured. As long as she keeps churning out those hits for herself she'll be fine. Side note... Alicia Key's new single is written by Emeli.

He didnt take losing out too well either what with not speaking on the chart show to Scott Mills!

I remember this very well actually. He was being interviewed on the Big Top 40 Show at the time that the official #1 was announced on Radio 1. I think Radio 1 just wanted to humiliate him by pretending he was supposed to be there tbh.

Tbh I don't blame him for being annoyed. The campaign was not really against him but against Simon, which is kind of harsh Joe got caught in the crossfire. In retrospect he got some great sales from it, but I'm sure he just wanted to have that #1 like he dreamed of.

He got the #1 the following week though.

He wasn't annoyed though. At 7pm he was live on another radio show (which actually gets MORE listeners than the Radio 1 show) being told he was #2 in their chart. That was why he wasn't at the Radio 1 chart show to be interviewed. He was simply being interviewed somewhere else, he wasn't at home crying or anything.

Looks like MW staff, have gone for their annual Christmas lunch and party, no news articles have been updated this morning, so it looks like we are not going to get an update today.

Hopefully some chart news from OCC site.

Answers on a postcard please.

The Justice Collective’s Hillsborough tribute single leads the race to the 2012 Christmas Number 1 in the Official Charts Company’s final sales bulletin of the week.

The race to the 2012 Christmas Number 1 remains finely balanced going into the weekend. In the Official Charts Company’s final sales bulletin of the week, The Justice Collective’s Hillsborough tribute single, He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, maintains its lead over James Arthur’s Impossible for the third day running, having sold 23,000 copies more than the X Factor winner up to midnight last night (with five days of sales counted).

The Official Charts Company’s managing director Martin Talbot says:

“The momentum is in favour of the Justice Collective, who now have a decent lead, having sold around 15% more than James Arthur at this point. But they have opened up their lead in just two days – it could easily be closed over the next two days.

“The Justice Collective are favourites right now – but their lead is not unbridgeable by any means. With two days of sales left to be counted, it is all to play for.”

Approaching the final countdown

Given the large sales volumes of the top two singles, other tracks which have been tipped as Christmas Number 1 contenders may now be out of the running. Psy’s mega-selling international smash, Gangnam Style, climbs one place to Number 8 today, while Gabrielle Aplin’s cover of The Power Of Love is down five places to Number 9.

YouTube blogger Alex Day, who gate-crashed the Official Christmas Singles Chart Top 5 last year, is at Number 15 with Stupid Stupid. The Pogues FT Kirsty McColl’s Fairy Tale Of New York, which has re-entered the Official Christmas Singles Chart Top 20 every year for the past seven years, is at Number 18, while The One Pound Fish Man’s One Pound Fish song climbs 15 places to enter the Top 40 at Number 32.

The Eddie Stobart Truckers also look set to enter the Official Singles Chart Top 40 on Sunday with their re-working of The 12 Days Of Christmas at Number 35. The Games Maker Choir and Alistair Griffin are just outside the Top 40 with I Wish For You The World at Number 53. Minecraft Christmas, Area 11’s festive tribute to cult video game, is at Number 60, and Robbie Williams’ Different is at Number 63. Williams, who is part of The Justice Collective, had asked fans to buy the Hillsborough tribute instead of his single when he realised release dates would clash.

And finally, Katherine Crowe’s Smile looks set to hold onto a place in the Official Singles Chart Top 100 for a second week with Smile (Number 95). The mother-of-two from the Isle Of Man has been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. Proceeds from the track will be used to help research new cancer treatments and help her family.

The Official Christmas Number 1 will be revealed on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart Show with Reggie Yates and the full Top 100 will be published on www.officialcharts.com this Sunday (December 23).

[snip]

It would've been nice if they told us where BlacknWhite 'Sweaty Goals' and Gypsy Queens 'L'Americano' were :P But great to see so many positions, especially £1 Fish Man at #32! Alex Day must be selling lots of physicals to still be in the top 15. Will probably make top 20 by the end of the week, wasn't expecting that after the massive drop on iTunes.

I make that as around:

Justice Collective - ~176000

James Arthur - ~153000

I may be wrong though, depends on whether I can remember my maths from high school

This is correct based on TJC selling 15% and 23k more than James A at this stage.

My final predictions for the sales this week:

The Justice Collective (228,800)

James Arthur (198,900)

Will.I.Am & Britney Spears (59,800)

Alex Day (26,000)

Exciting! :D

The thread sub-title is a bit misleading - it's not really an update, just narrative.

It's gonna be close on Sunday, but I think TJC have done enough already.

I agree with these figures, and they indicate that JA sold ~21k yesterday, and TJC ~30k.

If we assume 20k today & 30k tomorrow for JA, then we get 203k - then TJC only needs 28k over 2 days to be safe...

James Arthur iss number 1 on itunes now so i wonder is it all to play for?

He may be #1 on itunes, but I can't see him at #1 come Sunday. I think TJC will have this in the bag.
