Corr, I was well off - predicted February 2012 (specifically a week or two after the BRITs).

So you didn't think it would have gone Top 10 at all? Wishful thinking? :P

If my database is correct it has just left the Top 10... after spending an incredible 66 wks there ;)
I actually forgot which one I voted for

Honestly it'll probably be back in there next week, since the label have cut the price to £5.99 on iTunes AGAIN(!!!) and apparently her song was used extensively on Britain's Got Talent today.

What is even the point of having an albums top 10 if Emeli isn't even going to be there?

:D

Yay for her finally leaving :D Looks like my prediction of April was only a month off!

I was 2 months out, having picked March...

Looking at this consecutive top 10 weeks record purely from a charts/sales success point of view, it seems appropriate that the record is still held by Adele's "21"- An album that was STILL in the top 10 after selling over 4m copies and outselling nearly every other album in history, and has also had unprecedented worldwide chart success, and has only had minimal by comparison "first-hand" promotion with no price cuts or re-releases.

As oppose to an album that is still well outside the top 50 biggest selling albums of all time, has sold less than half of 21 in the UK, and less than a sixth of it worldwide, and having relied on what most would say was massive "first-hand" promotion, and numerous "well-timed" price-cuts and re-releases.

I boguht this album when it was first released and I regret it. :(

Of course you do, you could have bought it last week and helped prevent the TRAGEDY that has just happened. :(

May for all the reasons already stated. She will stay no1 ytd as well god help us all

Bow to my superior predictive powers!

Lol didn't even remember what I said originally, had to go back and check. It's weird she's beaten a Beatles record which given their cultural impact is sort of awful but at least not Adele.

Surely it'll dip in and out at least a couple of weeks with widepread price cut, I wonder if Adele will re-enter when she's finally knocked down to a fiver! That or '25' is released

Yeah, for me the crucial thing for me is that all promotion for '21' was stopped in September 2011, with Adele obviously having that operation around that time and the record label not really giving any other singles a real push (on this topic, was Rumour Has It actually an official single? Did Radio 1 playlist it?) ..... and yet, the album stayed in the top 10 for a whole 9 months after that purely because demand was so high. Whereas Emeli's album was being actively promoted right up until March this year (and even since then there's been regular price cuts), and now just a couple of months after promo stopped, it's "already" out of the top 10.

Never! It's never going to leave!

And it really needs to, completely ageed with the points above. Sande for me is like the bargain equivalent of Adele - worsee music, boring image, blander songs, massive promotion to make up for the music (whilst Adele relied on the music, not relying on the promo to sell it), had the Olympics, had massive promotion, loads of singles, to not even match Adele. Don;t forget, people were probably looking for another Adele-like album after getting 21, and there was this one unfortunately out to capitalise.

If Adele had performed all those Olympic slots, and the same song twice :/ , imagine the sales boost. There's just no real comparison to make between them. Adele's is a different league. I do wonder if tv shows have deals with artists - look at how they played Read ALl ABot It on repeat last night on BGT :/

Oh, just looked up - it left! I CAN'T ACTUALLY BELIEVE IT! :D FINALLY! And the record is still held and protected by Adele! SORTED.

What record did she take from the Fab Four? (And no I'm not talking Spice Girls singing Holler/ Let Love Lead the Way/ Goodbye, although those were obviously also fantastic).

Good riddance. It's amazing how popular mediocrity can be

THIS!

She came around at the right time as people were looking for a new Adele-style album and as MOR was made even opular. Her record company are HOUNDING this for sales. It's times like this we realise how lucky we are Adele's with an independent label and they're jst hapy with the success it naturally gets.

Please, Adele could never.

And it's not really about striking deals with artists to play them on TV shows, it's maybe because Read All About It was such a big song, and had the capital promotion from the Olympics to make people sit up and take notice of it?

I really wonder though if they do strike deals - think how long it was played last night!

The Queen will be back to rule the album charts soon enough.

Adele v. Emile Sande. No comparison. Adele will be back eventually, when she can be bothered, don't worry.

Haha Adele would have smashed the Olympics and done it amazingly. A maudlin song vs some of the biggest hits of all time? Everyone the world over were complaining the ceremony missed the biggest UK star since the Spices.

And the record is still held and protected by Adele! SORTED.

The record for consecutive top 10 weeks is held by Adele's 21, which had 71- that's 5 more than Sande, who just holds the record for a DEBUT album. However the way it has been reported in the press for weeks on end would make anyone think Sandé has the all time record for any album, which she doesn't. In fact I'm noticing some sites just dropping the "debut" part when referencing the record, such as digitalspy did today, which is just shoddy journalism.

Adele v. Emile Sande. No comparison.

Sande for me is like the bargain equivalent of Adele - worse music, boring image, blander songs, massive promotion to make up for the music (whilst Adele relied on the music, not relying on the promo to sell it), had the Olympics, had massive promotion, loads of singles, to not even match Adele.

Right... :P

I actually agree with Michael, although he does need to calm down and put his points forward in a less ranty way.
