Are Paradise, Sexy and I Know It and What Makes You Beautiful back in the top 100 due to gift cards, or something else? Surprised to see songs from last year getting boosted if so, but they've all been very present in 2012 as well.

'Paradise' was on xmas TOTP. (First number 1 of 2012 etc...) not sure about the other two...

Anyway, I think Bre's correct in regards to S&S helping out Brit's career here in the UK, more than MLJ did for Xtina. Mainly because she features more than Xtina did and that, like Nick pointed out, Brit still has enough of her fanbase to stop her from completely bombing like Xtina's career seems to have done. I dunno, I just think it's going to help Brit out more than most people think it will. If it doesn't, fair enough laugh at me for saying so, but it's how I feel at this moment in time. Also, timing for Brit to follow it up with some new stuff is crucial. She needs something preferably around late Feb/early March.

I think it's entirely relevant, actually. The debate here is (or at least was, before it became what appears to just be a Britney/Britney fan bashing session) which name is selling the song more. Most people who think Will is doing most of the selling say Britney is doing absolutely nothing for the track whatsoever. But there's no evidence in favour of that argument, while there is evidence in favour of the argument that Britney has increased its selling power.

Will's international irrelevance is exaggerated - 'This Is Love' was fairly big worldwide, though it flopped in the US. However, 'Scream & Shout' has only been available for a few weeks and has already matched or beaten TIL's peak in many countries, as well as of course massively outperforming it in the US. It seems to me that the most logical explanation for this is the names tacked onto the track. 'This Is Love' has Eva Simons, a random flopstar. 'Scream & Shout' has Britney Spears, an international household name (yes, even in the UK) with one underperforming (for her standards) album, which still has a Gold certification in the UK (even if it is overcertified, it was Silver after a couple of weeks). To me it seems fairly obvious that Britney has massively helped the song worldwide, and considering she's still a big name (no, a Gold album does not make someone irrelevant) in the UK, it seems entirely plausible that she's helped sell the song here, too. No, not to the same extent she has in the US - Will is a big name here, I'm sure his name can sell a song well too. But I personally don't see any evidence that if 'Scream & Shout' had another Eva Simons feature instead of Britney, it would be doing just as well as it now is.

And please, don't try the "lol deluded britney loon im so braindead" thing on me - I am perfectly aware that Will's last few singles have been much bigger than Britney's in the UK. That doesn't mean her name means nothing, though.

Wow, the only valid argument I've come across in this discussion.

I agree. Like Rihanna released a single a couple of months after Love the Way You Lie smashed, which was a good idea, whilst I think Christina waited a bit too long after Moves Like Jagger to release something imo. Britney needs to do more like Rihanna, and time her next release to ride off the success of this song. There's been so many examples of an artist gaining popularity after featuring on a big hit, so I don't see why it wouldn't happen to Britney.

 008. The Justice Collective - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother

Wasn't this #1 or #2 not so long ago?

Taylor Swift (#21), Justin Bieber (#26), Maroon 5 (#24 and #46) and Little Mix (#31) due to have some big climbs within the Top 40 this week, and Jay-Z/Kanye West (#33) and Skrillex (#41) to return Top 40.

Personally, I think that the song is as popular as it is because it sounds good in a club. I can close my eyes and feel like I'm in a club while I'm listening to the song. ^_^

Aren't you 15?

And at least with "Moves Like Jagger" you could tell it was Christina singing.

Surely Britney does help the song, "Britney bitch" is probably what I look forward to most in the track and it's a nice touch to her previous stuff

I haven't even heard Scream & Shout in a club yet. I think a lot of places might be reluctant to play it because Britney is on it tbh.

There was one time I thought they were gonna play it because they started playing synths similar to the intro of Scream & Shout, but it turned out to be Control Myself by LL Cool J/J-Lo instead. Now I think about it, even the music videos are a little bit similar (like with the mirror effects used on J-Lo and Britney).

I think she's helped the success of the song because a lot of her devoted fanbase probably bought the song on its release week.

Yay, three totally not awful or overexposed songs that I just needed to hear more of!

I don't know how you'll take it but in the 2012 Buzzjack Awards in the lounge they made you the "iLoon Of The Year". They are basically saying that you are obsessed with the iTunes chart, but im sure that's not really the case.

-------------------

What's happened to the Justice Collective? they were at #1 on iTunes the last time at looked which was about 24 hours ago now they are #8

Also i see the Gangnam Style has started it's predictable Xmas/New Year journey towards #1.

Although I think it's a shame 'Stay' has fallen out of the iTunes top 10, I think this is also a good thing and hopefully the video will come out and boost it back up once the gift card sales for the older releases have worn off.

Taylor & Will.I.Am tracks are doing very well holding up!

Diamonds and Gangnam Style have really benefited, they are going to have absolutely monster runs in the top 10. (Even more so than they already have...)

I'm not too worried about Stay. Hopefully it'll just jump back up the chart like Lights On did when it was in a similar situation.

I'll temporary post up these kworb updates (only because PSY is slaying :D).

IMO this update is utter nonsense - I can't believe JA has suddenly got back that sort of lead!

There are other positions that seem unlikely in the extreme, too.

Candy is Number 5 combined.

If it will stay in Top-10 it will be the first single for Robbie what have ever had a comeback in Top-10.
