Songs with a hidden sexual meaning often go down well, like Candy Shop, Poker Face, My Humps, Rude Boy, and so on.

Although Whistle's sexual meaning isn't very hidden at all! :P

Plus the whistling hook is very catchy.

Kind of like Starstrukk and Pumped Up Kicks, which were massive hits and had catchy whistling parts.

My favourite song with whistling is The Whistle Song by Juelz Santana, it's ridiculously catchy.

"Gangnam Style"'s fall on iTunes could cost him the #2 spot this week potentially, especially given how much "Scream & Shout" has advanced on the #1 in the past few days. Unless PSY sold A LOT in the first few days, I imagine it'll be a close battle for the #2 spot; either way I'm hopeful Will.i.am can grab the #1 next week!

'The Power Of Love' was nowhere near as big as 'Your Song'. It got to #1 due to an extremely dead week and an X Factor performance helping its sales stay more sturdy than the songs that were ahead the previous week. Also, only one week top 3 while 'Your Song' had 4 (and then another 3 weeks top 5, which is how many top 5 weeks 'The Pwer Of Love' has in total).

It was a dead week when it got to no1 but the first week of december is normally dead most years (think DWMT got the no1 on that week in 2011 with 74k in sales) because the big pop stars release around 12/11 & 19/11 most years.

Your Song is different to TPOL though as well due to the artist - Ellie Goulding already had an established name in 2010 so there was extra sales from that and the airplay was much bigger using radio 1 for an example Your Song went straight into the blist in week one and then was in the alist straight after that from mid november.

I'm amazed at how well Olly Murs is doing. He's became insanely popular, hasn't he? :o Would never have thought that he'd be one of the most successful X-Factor contestants, behind One Direction. :o

EDIT - well in the UK he's already more popular than One Direction based on album and single sales (so far).

Yeah he has, he's alot like Robbie Williams for me - has that XF!

If you take the lyrics that way then he is teaching someone how to give a b-o-job, inferring that he has done it before

Weird that Gangnam Style isn't being stable/increasing on iTunes on a Friday. Hopefully he'll get that usual Saturday boost, either that or people are waiting until New Years Eve to party instead. :P
The difference from Robbie Williams being that he can't write songs for shit.

And Olly Murs can?

Williams is still the biggest british male solo artist of his generation :P

I think he might've been saying Olly is the one who can't write songs (although I'm not sure myself, the sentence is worded confusingly ).

Is it that ambiguous? I dread to think what drugs you'd have to take to think Murs had written more good songs than Williams.

Robbie>>>>>Olly imo.

Olly only has one song I love (Heart Skips a Beat), whilst I love many of Robbie's songs (Millennium, Tripping, Bodies, Lovelight, Rock DJ, and of course Rudebox is a masterpiece ).

Another 'Rudebox' fan? :o

I think I might DIE.

I think we're probably the only two in the ENTIRE COUNTRY!

I may be a little mistaken, but I think Cremey might be a fan too! (I think it was him I remember saying he liked it a couple of years ago ) It's aged pretty decently too I think!

He has good taste in music too, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Robbie has so many good songs, but Rudebox is awful. :puke2: Sorry Eric and Jonjo.

Haha. Don't apologise. We are very much aware we're the only 2(3?) who probably like it! :heehee:
