Ellie Goulding's Anything Could Happen was used for at least a minute at the beginning of Celebrity Big Brother too, hopefully it can get another boost! :D

Scream and Shout top version down to 0.7500 of David Bowie now. Would have been really interesting if it had been elligible to chart (it still could be!)

Kiss You  #9

Drinking From The Bottle being played a fair bit too on CBB.

Really hope this can become a surprise hit - Has been climbing steadily on iTunes and was around the #180 mark yesterday.

Steps' 5,6,7,8 is now being played on repeat as part of a task on Big Brother! Wonder if that will get a boost! :kink:

It got to #95 the week before the Christmas chart - hopefully like Frank Ocean's 'Lost' though it hasn't peaked yet. 'F**kin' Problems' (#91 the same week 'Matilda' entered) looks like it may not have peaked yet either, back up as high as #63!

'Matilda' was always my favourite of their singles but it's only hit me properly in the last few weeks. It's a shame they haven't ever gone anywhere near the top 40 and only have one week in the top 75 at #75 to their name, although three top 100 hits off this one album isn't bad. Living in hope that 'An Awesome Wave' will eventually find its way into the top 10, so close yet so far after the Mercury Prize!

I guess tomorrow's update will give us an indication ad to whether or not it'll chart :

Heard this on radio 1 this morning on the way to school, great song and hope it keeps climbing! :D

I'm pleased that they decided to re-release 'Matilda' in December as it got ignored when they released it last January so it would be amazing a year after it was first released if it could finally be a hit - The mixes of 'Matilda' on the EP and Deluxe Version of 'An Awesome Wave' are amazing too so hopefully they are still picking up a few sales individually too.

The song is one of the most commercial on the album and probably their best chance of getting a hit single and boosting album sales.

I'm guessing Bowie would get #6 or something if it's chart eligible (a la The Edge of Glory), but it depends how well it holds up. A lot of people that just tune in for the chart on Sunday would be confused if it doesn't show up, considering how much coverage it is getting right now. They really should change the rule!

I think he would have at least been at #3 on Sunday if it was chart eligible.

David Bowie is still there at the top. :o Is today the first of April?

When i looked at the Big Top 40 website and saw that he was at #1 i thought that iTunes had malfuctioned or something but when i looked at the kworb website straight afterwards that was when i realized that he was truly at #1.

He has quite a large lead over brit.i.am too. This is so unusual.
um..the lead is rapidly increasing. How sure is everyone he WONT get #1? If he continues pulling that far ahead I predict some last minute changes to the chart 'rules' wouldnt be a shock. If he ends up *majorly* outselling, BOWIE, not Britney DEF deserves #1. If he doesnt get it, def. wont be fair and square. Brit and Will I am should get an * next their '#1' :#.

Well according to a post I read on UKMIX, the retailer (I think) can report the sales of the song for t to be eligible for charting however the same amount sold would be deducted from the sales of the album as it would not have completely been purchased. :| I'm just paraphrasing but hope that makes sense but more importantly is correct xD

I love how you think Bowie will stay at #1 on iTunes all week.

No.

This Bowie thing is appalling, and I will be insanely pissed if the chart rule is changed just to let it get #1. Yes, it's just because I've been waiting for 'Scream & Shout' to be #1 for ages but this would be the second time Britney got screwed over by a last minute chart rule change (see also: Blackout débuting at #2 behind an album that wouldn't have been eligible to chart the previous week) and once was more than enough!

Im not a betting person but am def. feeling its very, very possible the rules may be changed if Bowie continues to slay (cause its 'Bowie) and Im sure the public outcry/ backlash would be pretty big. Legends like Bowie, Eagles etc...have VERY hardcore, dedicated fan bases but in a different way than Britney, X-Tina etc..cause they also have the mega critical acclaim which may even have more power. The biggest irony of it all is this happened in almost in the same kind of way in 2007 w/ the Eagles (another legendary act) not someone like Kesha, PSY, X Factor winner or some other random fly by night singer/group lol. If it was already well into Thurs/Fri Id say less of a chance but the fact its still barely into Wed. (4 whole days left of sales and enough time to make chart changes) only gives Bowie the possible benefit here.

It's not really a surprise to see Bowie so high, it's had an utterly ridiculous amount of hype today.

I assume you mean on radio, because I have heard sod-all about it elsewhere?
