In Da Club had all the characteristics of a #1 single. It's surprising that it peaked at #3 and for it to be number 3 behind Room 5 and Kym Marsh was just criminal.

I know Kym Marsh is on Coronation Street now but where are Room 5? if it wasn't for that Lynx advert then he would have at least been at a decent #2 position.

I'm pretty sure In Da Club has sold a little more than those two, so i guess it all got rectified eventually

It looks like the UK might be the country where My Life sees the most success (funnily this is also true for Right There and Buzzin', we must be the only country that still likes him ). The highest it's got anywhere in the world so far is #9 in Belgium. It only got #27 in the US, but that's not too bad for a song like this over there.

Most people probably think In Da Club got to #1. It was the biggest hit of 2003 as far as I'm concerned. I like Where is the Love?, but In Da Club was obviously so much bigger. 50 Cent's "gangsta" image was always going to limit his sales with some demographics though.

'In Da Club' was #1 on the EOY points chart of 2003 by a significant margin (1,942 to 1,567 for R. Kelly 'Ignition' in 2nd) for what it's worth :P 'Where Is The Love' only 6th there, also behind 'Breathe', 'Fly On The Wings Of Love' and 'Bring Me To Life'.

I think right now it's the clean version of My Life that is at #13 so it might stay there for some time while the Explicit version climbs up the chart. It's possible that he could have 2 versions in the top 10.

"In Da Club" remains the only essential thing 50 Cent has done, "Clique" for #1. Or something like that.

50 Cent's "gangsta" image was always going to limit his sales with some demographics though.

In a country of 60 million people where the average #1 is bought by one person in every thousand each week, that's really not a factor. Hence why songs that are largely hated can still go to #1.

I think that's probably because In Da Club climbed to its peak for some reason, which I imagine was pretty rare in the charts in 2003.

I always thought that 'Where Is The Love?' felt like the biggest hit of 2003, by some margin. I guess it was just that I loved the song more, and it was bigger amongst my friend circle etc. 'In Da Club' was obviously massive though.

I remember at the time watching the BEPs perform Where is the Love? on some TV shows, which would've helped its sales and overall popularity as well.

No surprise 50 cent has made his way quickly up the itunes chart - britney/will's sales will; be no more than 50-55k this week which is atrocious - 50 should be no1 and Biffy and Justin should fight it out in a 3 way battle for the top spot!!

My Life (Explicit Version) #250

Expect this version to overtake the clean version and climb up 249 places within the next 24 hours.

On a side note (i dont know where to post this) how many issues of MW has there been since xmas - the last one i got was 21/12 - it hasnt been on sales in belfast since that issue!

Les Miserables already no1 on the album chart!!

'My Life''s debut is higher right now, because he'd "only" need to do 60k to secure number 1 this week... so low sales = faster progress.
If Bingo Players had any sense theyd have released their single this week, as ive said above most of the new singles will challenge for the top because sales are low!
I'd be annoyed if "Clown" got top ten after "My Kind of Love" failed to. Still, I'm glad that Emeli's getting some success. She's been such a flop recently :(

I hope it misses out too - not because of the song itself, but as a lesson in not pulling too many songs off one album!

Yeah i agree. Scream & Shout will hardly be selling by the bucket load so it should be fairly easy to overtake. It might not last there for long though if Justin releases on Monday.

It will be like Ayo Technology all over again with 50 Cent and JT dominating! :w00t:

S&S might benefit from the #1 effect a bit, though.

JT should never have left N-Sync...
