Dizzee's given up on commercial success and the big pop choruses then after his recent underperformances?

Which underperformances? The only song that could be called an underperformance since Dance Wiv Me came out is Dirtee Disco.

Sweet Nothing! I still love this song.

Is the Big Top 40 thread going to be either banned or discouraged on this forum this week, although I supplied the chart for it I don't think it went down particularly well.

If people want to know the chart they can look on the BT40 website after 7pm.

Same applies as last week yes, so please don't mention it too much until after 7. Thanks.

Not entirely sure if 'Bassline Junkie' is actually a single, I know it has a video but it hasn't been playlisted by R1 which seems odd for a Dizzee single.

Pretty much everything he's released since Dirtee Disco has flopped (unless I'm forgetting something?)

His """official""" Olympic Games song missing top 20 maybe? And despite The Power going to #6, it didn't have any longevity.

Last week's chart showed just how flawed their (non published) algorithm must be!

All of them! Everything with his name attached since his glory days of 2008/9 has underperformed imo. Dirtee Disco and Shout dived after the first week and The Power and Scream should have done a lot better considering DJ Fresh got #1's with lesser names in Sian Evans and (at the time) Rita Ora.

Hmmm.

"2008 01 Dance Wiv Me (Dizzee Rascal Feat. Calvin Harris & Chrome) -1-

2009 01 Bonkers (Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden) -2-

2012 06 The Power (DJ Fresh Feat. Dizzee Rascal)

2012 22 Scream (Dizzee Rascal Feat. Pepper) -NAT-

2012 38 Bassline Junkie -EP-"

Oh dear, 8 top ten hits in a row and then.. nothing?

Talking about charts obviously, not the quality.

Re: Dizzee Rascal - not a fan of the track on first listen; think the fact it's attained a T40 placing is testament to how much material from the rapper is in demand. He and Tinie Tempah should both do well upon official return to the charts (especially given the quick rise of "Drinking From the Bottle" too).

Dirtee Disco sold over 200,000, which is okay, but not as big as his other hits. But I think the main one is The Power. A standard dance-pop tune by two massive UK artists, I was a bit shocked it didn't go to #1.

I think he could make more money off Bassline Junkie than he did off Dirtee Disco tbh.

Pretty much everything he's released since Dirtee Disco has flopped (unless I'm forgetting something?)

Yeah, but Scream wasn't really tipped to do anything in the chart from everyone, and The Power was DJ Fresh's song. :P

It's understandable for him to not do as well though, he'd be stupid to think that he could live off making generic club bangers forever.
