I really think this might have an outside chance at #1. It's received support from all across the radio spectrum (even Radio 2), and across the blogosphere as well. Plus, it's a pretty awesome song to boot.

I don't think that it will go to #1, but I do think that it has a very good chance of making the Top 10. ^_^ It's going to make the Top 20 for definite anyway! :D

What?! It's brilliant! It's so anthemic and it's already one of the best alternative songs from the last five years in my opinion. It does seem a bit too polished but I'm sure that they are only doing it to produce maximum airplay - this wouldn't sound particularly out of place on Capital FM. :P

That's great to hear! :D I hope that you're enjoying the show. ^_^

Alternative to what? There's nothing alternative about it.

If you want to take everything seriously, it isn't alternative. But to many other people, it is alternative.

Anybody who thinks this is alternative is clueless. This is a pop song and about as alternative as The Fray.

How any song that sounds like Orinoco Flow at the start can be considered alternative beggars belief.

It is slightly on the side of 'alternative' up to most pop songs. I think you are being very harsh over this.

Exactly, Bastille have never marketed themselves as a pop band and I also think that some people are being harsh over the definition of their music.

Probably me being grumpy then ;)

I am just getting slightly tired of bands peddling 80s inspired pop then pushing it as hey aren't we alternative.

TBH I wouldn't mind seeing this high in the charts but alternative it is not. And I'm not being unduly harsh.

That's not the point though. I'd imagine that every music journalist is labelling Bastille as indie because they have that vibe. Bastille have also been compared to Coldplay, which also aren't indie if we go by hardcore definitions. It's simply more commercial alternative music, that's all. ^_^

I can see where both sides are coming from, personally I'd label it as a good medium between pop and alternative, so that it easily appeals to both crowds.

Who cares if it's "alternative" or not? Pompeii is AWESOME, and that's all that shall matter.

Each to their own.

Distinctly average.

It's the best song of the year!

I like it, but it sounds like the type of song that mainstream whores parade about with saying 'look at me I'm so indie!!!'.
