If you remember 'Pass Out' then you remember this :P Much as I do love 'Frisky' it's more or less exactly the same song give or take a couple of lines about risking it for a chocolate biscuit.

Which is the exact reason why you would forget Frisky? Frisky is still known but it's definitely not as well-known as it used to be.

Probably the biggest non #2 ever is Ronan Keating 'I Hope You Dance'.

I dare anyone to remember how this goes without having to check YouTube first. :P

Other plummeting #2 singles that left no legacy include:

S Club 7 - You

Atomic Kitten - The Last Goodbye

Craig David & Sting - Rise And Fall

Kym Marsh - Cry (mostly remembered for being in Hear'Say and Coronation Street but certainly not for this #2 forgotten hit)

Ronan Keating - She Believes In Me (him again)

Duncan James & Keedie - I Believe My Heart

I liked that song. I also remember how it went as well. :P And I'd argue that You made some sort of impact, it's not exactly remembered but it's not exactly forgotten either.

Are you kidding? Those two songs are still played regularly on radio stations.

Two points really

a) this is a thread about personal opinions isn't it- and thusly

b) there isn't really a right or wrong answer within reason

Well as I remember "Pass Out" but not "Frisky" I've disproved your theory :P

I think you slightly missed my point. I'm saying if you remember 'Pass Out' then just imagine the same song with slightly different lyrics and you have 'Frisky'. :P

And this is my personal opinion as well. :D I wasn't being serious when I asked if you were kidding. I personally can't stand those two songs but it would be stupid of me to deny that they haven't made an impact when they are still played regularly on the radio.

Duncan James & Keedie - I Believe My Heart

S Club's worst single. So meh. I get that it was meant to be "fun", but compared to their other songs, it failed!

One of Atomic Kitten's very best songs for me. I loved both sides ('Be With You' was the other A-Side) but 'The Last Goodbye' is stunning and I was devastated it missed number 1! :(

Kym Marsh's song I really liked too! (Although I preferred her second single 'Come On Over').

I think I liked Duncan James' song too. It's so twee, but I think it's sweet.

I do agree that they were "non-number 2's" though.

Robbie Williams/Gary Barlow - Shame

Amelia Lily - You Bring Me Joy

JLS - Take a Chance On Me

I loved You (the song not you, well actually your very nice but I don't love you). Anyway, I've still got the CDS in my bedroom, in fact I've got a few of their CDS and their albums! Not that I've listened to them for years!

You need to become comfortable basking in the aloneness. You need to think about becoming a committed spinster! :D

I think "impact" is probably only something that can be assessed after about 5 years personally. I qualified my selection by saying I'd have trouble remembering them unless I went on to Youtube (in which case some would probably ring a bell) but they seem to have been forgotten by me at least :D

That's fair enough. I based my criteria on whether I still regularly hear those songs on the radio, but in five years, I guess that we could fully assess if they really were remembered in the long run. :D

Haha that made me laugh

Her solo album was amazing and very high in my all-time list

"You" is the best S Club 7 song.

Busted are NOT a NON-NUMBER 2! I'm not HAVING ANY OF IT.

I know they are really, but I love them and don't want them to get non-number 2's as well as non-number 1's!

Looking at the #2's list of this century, the only one I couldn't hum without looking up is Icky Thump by The White Stripes, so I guess that's probably quite a non number two! Otherwise I agree with many of the selections here, a lot of non #2's are fanbase or initial burst midweek #1's that have faded as the week went on and completely died off after that.
They were ordered to by his lawyers otherwise a nice lawsuit would have ended up on their desk so not much choice really.
and to be fair to Cohen, he did allow SUAD to sell the copies that had already been pressed up rather than insisting these copies be destroyed as doing the latter would have bankrupted the record label. I believe part of the agreement was that any profits from the single had to go to charity. Unfortunately for SUAD they didn't learn their lesson and continued to use samples on various tracks without obtaining clearance and the label did eventually go bankrupt due to legal wrangles with other record labels and lawyers.

Since when has a #2 hit needed to be an enduring classic? All reaching #2 means is it was the second best-selling single in that particular week.
