I'm placing bets on MORE posts actually being made by non-Saturday fans freaking out about the sheer number of posts made by Saturdays fans :)

It's never about the numbers more the overexcitement of things going well/the overcompensation of denial if things go bad. For those of us looking for a good laugh, it's win win.

The problem is that there's never a good laugh in there though. You always see three different arguments going on in the same thread. :drama:
For one everybody seems to know about What About Us. It's got a decent amount of hype regarding it. People who don't even like The Saturdays are claiming that it's a "tune" etc. Ego could have have done better had it not been released after the album.

For me What About Us makes me feel good and want to party! My mates don't really like The Saturdays but love What About Us, I would be surprised if this missed the top 2.

Tbh I think the only hype this single has, which their other singles didn't have, is the fact that it's the single they're using to try to break the States and therefore their fans think this will instantly make it more likely to reach #1 than their previous efforts. It might get to #1, the US attempt has given them a lot of press, but I think all the "hype" is within their fanbase rather than involving the general public.

Also, your mates don't dictate the charts. Many of my friends hate The Saturdays and hate WAU. It's really not a game-changer.

The EP pre-order has been doing well for a while now though (currently #99), usually 'fanbase hype' songs go high when they're first released to pre-order then drop off very quickly. Note this is what happened with '30 Days'. I think 'What About Us' must somehow be reaching out beyond the fanbase a bit more than their previous singles.

Oh no doubt it is getting attention from non-fans but I still wouldn't call it "hyped".

Maybe what this song has that neither 'If This Is Love', 'Forever Is Over' and 'Missing You' had was a great reception. Their fanbase seem to love WAU while ITIL, FIO and MY all had a lukewarm reception. I'm not including 'Notorious' because that was OA/OS. '30 Days' was a non-event also.

Well, there's no point in discussing or arguing it until we see what happens! :D

Following in the footsteps of Alex Clare, this is the new Internet Explorer song. Wonder how well it'll do

EDIT: 105. Your Touch - Blake Lewis

Blake (FINALLY) coming for that top 100 smash! :drink:

I think the Saturdays simply have a bit more of a chance of number 1 this time because there's just very little out to stop it this time and it is getting decent radio/tv support, I wouldn't really say its any better or worse than their usual songs bar the Sean Paul feature (although I think its only a matter of time until they actually turn into robots), but its just been well marketed and release strategy planned better this time.

Never mind the iTunes thread, just think how insufferable the Saturdays themselves and their fans will be if they do hit number 1...

When on earth did I say my mates dictated the charts? I'm just saying that a Saturdays song has appealed to my friends who don't like The Saturdays.

It's not a game changer, but it's a song that people seem to be loving at the moment - not every song can be a game changer, When I Was Your Man is following on from successful piano ballads, but it's still a great song that's doing well in the charts. I've never heard my friends speak about a song by The Saturdays before it's release, but they've played it quite a few times (I think Sean may help as I've previously said), and this sort of thing leads me, and a few others like Lee, to believe they stand a very good chance at getting #1 right now. Especially with sales not being huge.
The Saturdays finally hitting no.1 with something will be the equivalent of when 911 did it. No one will particularly care and it'll be forgotten in a year. The only great thing is that either way the iTunes and Sunday Chart Predictions threads will be utterly hilarious and full of :drama: moments.

Just jealous tbh -_-

Anyone else know why Passenger doesnt get any airplay in the uk? Let her go could be huge - he's done brilliantly in holland and germany, how is it top 200 at all?

I've seen it slowly climbing itunes over the past few weeks, not sure if its getting played yet though? May be its just internet hype (i.e. people seeing it doing well on other itunes worldwide etc). Its even #1 in Ireland by a long way.

If it gets promoted then it will be huge like you say. I can see it getting pushed here though, then again I thought that about Icona Pop and both radio and TV seem to have ignored it so far for some reason.

Its strange as he's british and the album was re-released in february - i heard it at the ed sheeran concert which he warms up for so that could be increasing his profile too. I didnt realise he was no1 in ireland - thats great!!

Bad Mood by the Vaccines was performed on Alan Carr tonight - he's back in 2 weeks time when the saturdays will be promoted!!

I also see that I Need Your Love is top 30 in Ireland, Icona Pop no10 & Boomerang no5!!
I'm so surprised that What About Us might give the Sats their first #1, as a fan since day one it's probably my least favourite single of theirs and it seems so strange that the elusive #1 they've always been searching for might finally come so far into their career. A bit like 911 in that respect if it happens, let's just hope that they don't go the same way and flop spectacularly with the follow up before splitting

 44. Laura Mvula "Green Garden" (AV)

It's a shame so many older entries (Swedish House Mafia, Rihanna, James Arthur) are likely to occupy the bottom end of the T40 this week, "Green Garden" could've secure a second week. I imagine it's all pretty close though, perhaps she'll only fall to #41/2. Fingers crossed the double versions have been enough to keep her in, in favour of Bastille's "Flaws" (which has already had its time in the T40!)
