March 14, 201313 yr 'Jar Of Hearts' will be performed on X Factor (or something) at some point, I'm sure of it. It'll be one of the over hyped "good but not THAT good" sort of performance, that gets the boost every year. I'm not sure whether it'll be this year or next, but it'll eventually pass over 1 million. I never realised it was as close as it was tbh! :o (I hope it can do it though, it's gorgeous)
March 14, 201313 yr Perri is no more or less a product than *any* pop star, so your first point means little in this context. IMO, either Sinead & Christina both expressed real emotion in their songs, or neither did. Individual listeners are the only ones who can make that assessment, and then only for themselves. In my opinion, I'd Sinead definitely showed emotion in Nothing Compares 2 U - that tear was real and unintentional. I can also hear emotion in Christina's voice too. As for Nothing Compares 2 U's sales, I think it's between 500k and 600k.
March 14, 201313 yr Oh, Blake Lewis is the American Idol runner-up from 2007 - I was wondering why so many people were so shocked about a randomer being in the top 40. It seems like most of the AI contestants that do well in the UK are not the winners. Only Kelly and Jordin have won and then had significant success in the UK but Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry, Adam Lambert and now Blake Lewis have all also made some impact without winning. Still waiting on Phillip Phillips doing anything in the UK, even this late I couldn't see 'Home' failing to be at least a minor hit after how well it's done in the US. March 15, 201313 yr Midweek Charts update: Bowie has year's highest opening sales Source: MW by Paul Willams David Bowie's The Next Day has achieved the highest first-week sales of the year so far after selling nearly 80,000 copies in the UK in four days. The RCA album, his first studio set since 2003's Reality, overtook on Thursday the opening week tally of Warner Bros act Biffy Clyro's Opposites, which sold 71,584 copies at the end of January/beginning of February, according to the Official Charts Company. Until Bowie's album tally, this was the biggest first-week sales of 2013 for an artist album. With two days of trading still to go in the chart week, The Next Day's sales were 154% ahead of its nearest rival, Mercury act Bon Jovi's brand new album What About Now, by the end of trading on Thursday, while it had sold more than four times as many copies as Virgin act Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events, which drops 2-3 in the midweeks. Fellow Virgin release Bad Blood by Bastille falls to 4 having debuted at No 1 last Sunday, while Bruno Mars' second Atlantic album Unorthodox Jukebox loses a place to 5. Fuelled by a performance on Jonathan Ross's ITV1 show last Saturday, Nicole Scherzinger's brand new Interscope/Polydor single Boomerang had started the week leading the midweek singles chart but has now dropped to 4. Ahead of it, Justin Timberlake's Mirrors looks like holding on to No 1 this Sunday with its closest challenger another RCA release, Pink featuring Nate Ruess's Just Give Me A Reason, which progresses 4-2. Bruno Mars' Atlantic single When I Was Your Man drops 2-3 as VIrgin-signed Bastille's Pompeii falls 3-5. March 15, 201313 yr Author Bowie is on 80k, might just scrape 100k, but I think it might be slightly under.
March 15, 201313 yr Bowie is on 80k, might just scrape 100k, but I think it might be slightly under. Only 15k in the last 2 days, though.
March 15, 201313 yr Oh YAY at that top 2 :cheer: Boomerang could have been almost as big as Young with the right support imo. Really hope Hurts can hold onto a top 10 position, even if it definitely deserves top 5!! (Theo was on Celebrity Juice last night, which could guarantee at least TWO more sales of the album)
March 15, 201313 yr Author Only 15k in the last 2 days, though. People go shopping at the end of the week they might slip a Bowie album in their shopping trolley. :funky:
March 15, 201313 yr Author PERFECT TOP 2! I wish it was the other way round though JT has made his mark already, P!nk is most likely to get pushed down next week, if Peter Kay/Sats end up top 3.
March 15, 201313 yr I wish it was the other way though, P!nk is most likely to get pushed down next week, if Peter Kay/Sats end up top 3. I'm not... but I'm in love with this song since September and this one deserved to be her BIGGEST hit ever for me. He has 20% lead over her still...
March 15, 201313 yr Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Justin Timberlake :o 2 P!nk  Pink seems to be mirroring her M!ssundaztood era with her single success: top 3 lead single, followed by a low top 10 single, followed by a single which peaks one place higher than the lead single. She's probably also likely to do a "Family Portrait" with her next single i.e. go top 15. Also, with that top 2, it could easily be 2002 or 2006. :D Edited March 15, 201313 yr by SceneofSIXCrimes
March 15, 201313 yr For Nicole to drop from 1 to 4 in two days, the sales must be close... Meaning P!nk is going to be at least reasonably close to getting a #1 single with Just Give Me A Reason! Who'd have thought it? (She won't though, at least for this week) ...Hopefully Bastille can overtake Nicole too by Sunday :D David Bowie's sales are trailing off extremely fast.
