So the biggest shock of the year so far music wise...Ant and Dec possibly going to #1 on iTunes! Mind f***

I think David Bowie getting to #1 on iTunes is the biggest shock of the year, this is the 2nd biggest shock.

Let’s Get Ready to Rumble decreasing... I wouldn't rule out a second week for Saturdays especially with multiple versions also charting (NOW and Sean Paul-less).

Combined

01. The Saturdays Feat Sean Paul - What About Us 100%

02. Pink Feat Nate Ruess - Just Give Me A Reason 98%

The Saturdays will have Sats only version and their Ep to help them, It's going to be P!nk vs The Saturdays this week then!

The Saturdays vs. P!nk - that's a chart battle I'm willing to get on board with. Wouldn't mind if P!nk did end up at #2 because it will have at least become her highest peaking single from The Truth About Love.

PJ & Duncan are already falling. :heehee:

The Saturdays are still at #1.

I wouldn't mind them being #2, the Pink song isn't terrible, but obviously as fan of the girls, I wish them the best and a second week at #1 would be amazing.

Can't believe The Sats are still #1. :o If it can hold on until Ant and Dec plummet then they've got the #1 for this week guaranteed (with the Now! version and the solo version being released), however if Ant and Dec knock them off #1 before then they'll lose the current #1 effect and probably get overtaken by Justin and Pink and won't make the #1 even with the other versions combined.

If that makes sense.

I still don't understand why people here seem to think having more than one version of a song available results in higher sales. Having more than one version just means the sales for that song are more spread out over the different versions, rather than all going to one version (actually, ironically having multiple versions makes it more likely the Saturdays will lose the "#1 effect", if such a thing exists, because all its sales will no longer be concentrated on that one version).

I agree, sales might be decent through cherry picked, although it dosen't help tracks survive in the top 10 on iTunes as long, I remember it effected Maroon 5 which knocked them out the iTunes top 10 and therefore losing the top 10 effect!

It's been annoying me more that 'Let's Get Ready To Rhumble' has been erroneously referred to as '...Rumble'! It may be a spelling error, but it's intentional. It's known as sensational spelling.

Ant and Dec call it '...Rhumble' on Twitter as well: https://twitter.com/antanddec - they seem very taken aback by the success!

Thanks for that! :cheer:

That theory only applies where the versions are identical (or nearly so). In the case of 'What About Us' though, no way would I buy a version *with* Sean Paul, but I definitely *would* buy one without him - hence an increase in sales for the song...

Oh my god. PJ and Duncan at #1, insane! An even more shocking iTunes chart topper than Euphoria :o
I thought someone said they were decreasing. :o NO Words to explain this apart from wow. It won't stay there for long though I don't think.

Usually songs have an increase in sales when an "extra" version gets released. I remember a couple of years ago people were laughing at Till the World Ends flopping (it's initial chart run was something like 22-56-OUT), and I said it would probably re-enter the chart because the album version is getting released, and I had people going at me saying stuff like "Why would it re-enter, nobody likes it?", "If people wanted to buy it would still be in the top 100, the album won't do anything", etc. and then it DID re-enter.

The Saturdays probably won't increase in sales though, as the extra sales they'll get from the new versions of the song probably won't out-weigh the weekly drop in sales they'll get.

Wow, congrats to PJ and Duncan! Get that 19 year-old smash!

It's not #1 on my feed...

On the iTunes album chart

7. Ant & Dec - Ant & Dec: The Essential Collection

 complete madness, Ant & Dec must be having a laugh. Ant & Dec for the double this week

I reckon Ant & Dec will end up at #4 at the end of the week. But it will be interesting to see what order the top 3 will be, obviously supporting The Sats again this week!
