As the groups released different numbers of albums and singles each, and therefore direct comparison could be misleading with total sales figures, I thought I'd calculate the average single, album and combined sales for each group, based on the sales figures given above.

Average Single Sales

1. B*Witched 330k

2. 5ive 250k

3. Atomic Kitten 210k

4. Honeyz 160k

5. Blue 150k

6.= Liberty X 110k

6.= 911 110k

Average Album Sales

1. Blue 938k

2. Atomic Kitten 580k

3. B*Witched 500k

4. 5ive 430k

5. Liberty X 350k

6. Honeyz 100k

7. 911 50k

Average release sales (singles and albums combined)

1. B*Witched 360k

2. Blue 330k

3. 5ive 300k

4. Atomic Kitten 290k

5.= Honeyz 150k

5.= Liberty X 150k

7. 911 94k

A few surprises there - Got the Feelin' being Five's second biggest seller (a #3 hit outselling Let's Dance and all their #2s) and Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word being Blue's biggest seller! Would have thought it would have been All Rise or If You Come Back (or even One Love) but I guess being released near Christmas time + Elton's presence helped. And wow at the Honeyz, they sold a lot more than I remembered for what I consider a fairly underrated group!

Not surprised there's only one Liberty X track there & nothing after 2002 in general (despite them and Blue's continued presense through the noughties) due to the slump in singles sales that followed. Nor that 911 don't really make an impression as they never really got their Huge Hit Single that all the others achieved ('Bodyshakin' I guess the closest), their few #1s disappearing fairly quickly.

Are these just UK sales? would be cool to see how it changed if all international sales were included - but ofc that'd be hard to find all that data!
Didn't realize that Honeyz had sold that much tbh

Some U.S. figures:

C'EST LA VIE B*Witched Epic 700,000

WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT Five Arista 800,000

B* Witched's debut album went PLATINUM in America! As did Five's!

Five were more of a singles group than a Albums group. Blue seemed to have a few big selling albums.
'Until the Time Is Through' surprisingly sold much more than I expected it too! I had no idea it sold over 250k! (Very pleased though :wub:)
This was a really informative post that i enjoyed reading, all the acts mentioned sold a lot more than i anticipated.
Got The Feelin isn't that much of a shock. It was a huge hit and one of the sounds of my Summer in 98. Still my favourite Five track (Keep On Movin is excellent but I find it slightly overrated these days whereas Got The Feelin is so overlooked). Plus the no.2 hits flew right out the charts again didn't they?

Probably not entirely relevant here (so mods please move if you see fit) but what do the lyrics to Blue's All Rise mean?

Is it about a couple that have split up and are going to court (if so, over what?)

Is it about a couple who have split up and the guy is letting the girl know he's glad he's got rid of her and that others, over time, will also recognise that, by using courtroom terminology?

your second interpretation is nearer the mark. couple split up after he realises that she's been a cheating. The court terminology is just a clever narrative device. As I understand it anyway

12. B Witched Thank Abba For The Music (4) 335k

Did B*Witched really have a song called Thank Abba For The Music? Oh dear.

^ It was a collaborative effort with Steps, Billie, Cleopatra and Tina Cousins. Performed at the BRIT awards in 1999.
