April 5, 201313 yr Official Charts Midweek Sales Flash Top 40s: Friday, April 5 Source: MW by Paul Willams Justin Timberlake is tightening the screws on Imagine Dragons as he looks to secure a third week leading the UK artist albums chart with The 20/20 Experience. At the start of the week Las Vegas band Imagine Dragons had a near 40% sales lead over Timberlake with their newly-issued Interscope/Polydor debut Night Visions. However, that has now been cut to 9%, according to the Official Charts Company, with The 20/20 Experience just 1,500 sales behind at the close of business on Thursday. If Timberlake does hold on for another week he will have the first album to spend three consecutive weeks at the top since Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band's Decca-issued Sing in June last year. The album also appears on course to spend a third week leading the Billboard 200 chart in the US. The 20/20 Experience is joined by two other RCA albums in the midweek top five and three in the Top 10 with Bring Me The Horizon's Sempiternal new at 3, David Bowie's The Next Day dropping 3-4 and Pink's The Truth About Love losing a couple of places to 8. The week-to-date top five is completed by Atlantic act Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox holding at five, while Roadrunner's Killswitch Engage are new at 9 with Disarm The Descent. An expanded new version of Meat Loaf's album Bat Out Of Hell on Epic is just several hundred sales short of the Top 10, while other new arrivals to the market include Columbia's Tyler The Creator and Rough Trade's British Sea Power. Ministry of Sound single Need U (100 Percent) by Duke Dumont featuring AME has already sold more than 70,000 copies this week on its way to debuting at No 1 as Pink's RCA single Just Give Me A Reason featuring Nate Ruess holds at 2. The Edsel/Demon reissue Let's Get Ready To Rhumble by PJ & Duncan drops 1-3, while RCA-signed Justin Timberlake remains at 4 with Mirrors and the Saturdays drop 3-5 with their Polydor track What About US with Sean Paul. April 5, 201313 yr Fantastic albums top two, I can see BMTH being a case similar to last year where The Gaslight Anthem débuted at #2 (behind Plan B, so another new entry) and stayed there over the week despite everyone expecting them to fall back. Impossible to tell without sales but I was expecting Sempiternal to be top 5 on Sunday even before I saw the mids. ...oh.
April 5, 201313 yr If Duke is outselling the 2/3 combined surely he has to be on for 100k no2/3 will be above 50k this week?! David Bowie doing well in the albums still top 5 although sales will be 20k at most.

April 5, 201313 yr New Kids on the Block will most likely leave the top 40 before the Sunday chart, i really wanted them to stay in. I hope Pink can hold the number 2 position on Sunday, what i find interesting is Pink is the new number 1 in Ireland this week while Duke Dumont is only number 45, both markets can be quiet similar but not on this occasion thus far.

April 5, 201313 yr Oh so Justin is just gonna stay #1 then - that is what I predicted but I was kind of looking forward to Imagine Dragons getting #1 actually :P Gwon Justin anyhow! And at least Imagine Dragons are still looking set for 2 new entries in the top 40 + a new top 20 peak for 'Radioactive'. Gwon Haim climbing and Iggy entering the top 40 also :D From the '9% lead' and '1,500 lead' put together we can deduce that Imagine Dragons are on ~18.2k and Justin on ~16.7k. Not brilliant.
April 5, 201313 yr Author I'm hoping PJ & Duncan will drop to #6 by Sunday, which will push, 3, 4, 5, back up a place, I really want Bastille to get that #5 again :D 8 tracks have fallen out from last week's top 40 singles chart, which includes 2 tracks from Fall Out Boy, Rihanna, Wiley, David Guetta, Dizzee Rascal, Blackstreet and Ellie Goulding
