Well I knew it was gonna be bad but I didn't know it would be this lazy. Nothing I say will unfortunately stop this from being big though.

Is it a requirement for boybands to release the most faceless, generic tracks imaginable? I was really hoping they would do something a little different, but this is just so unbelievably bland. A 'Wings'/'Beat Again'/'WMYB' this is not (the latter two's follow-up hits I generally hate, but there's no denying they had strong debuts.)

Oh I rather like this, it's pleasant enough for a debut. I agree with most that the chorus could do with beefing up a bit.
It's a bit sad that they're always going to be compared to One Direction, but if that's what's happening: Carry You >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> What Makes You Beautiful.
It's fun! I like it a lot. It's obviously nothing original, and I can see the repetitive chorus becoming irritating, but for now I LOVE it. It's completely different to One Direction, which I was worried about. It's more The Wanted-esque, but even then, it's better than anything they've done for almost two years now.
I dont rate The Wanted but most of their material is superior to this. For a lead single it is poor imho.
LOVELY song but sadly I do agree with the comments regarding it being a bit basic and generic. This will obviously sell a ton based on the hype they're getting and the name, but sadly will have no longevity.
The verses seem quite good, but the chorus isn't very exciting and it doesn't really build either. Maybe a grower, but we'll see!
I really like this, the verses are lush, the chorus is way too repetitive though, even on first listen it's a bit bleugh so it's gonna get annoying quick. But the verses make up for it for me and overall I really like it. A solid 7/10 I think, I hope their future songs aren't quite as save and generic, but for what it is, a nice inoffensive pop song it's really good. Looking forwards to hearing more of their stuff.
There's a running theme amongst the posters on here in regards to this song and I have to agree with them. The chorus is so weak and limp. It feels like nothing is there, but apart from that, it's all nice enough. Not sure it's quite as strong a lead single as it had potential to be, but it does it's job and I think this will have a similar run to 'All Time Low'.
It is VERY The Wanted isn't it?

Ever since it was obvious they'd have a post-X Factor career I always thought they were basically going to replace The Wanted.

Nowhere near as good as What Makes You Beautiful but I do actually really like this!

Yeah, i'm so glad they've gone for a more TW sound as opposed to 1D (even though i hate to compare them all).

EP Pre Order  #5

This could be huge for them, but they really should bring the release date forward by like a fortnight. Too far away right now.

Agree with the comparisons with The Wanted and also that it isn't a strong debut in the same way 'Wings', 'Beat Again' and 'What Makes You Beautiful' were.
That chorus is one of the weakest choruses I have heard in god knows how long. This really is what I call a non-event of a song. Disappointed as they had so much potential on the X Factor.
I'm surprised people are even saying they saw potential when between them and District3 were by far the worst groups the show has ever had. Musically they are just as relevant as One True Voice were upon finishing Popstars: The Rivals. Same old same old styling and imagery and a song that currently has an overwhelming feel of "Will this do?" about it. And yet it will just probably do well because of superficial reasons and I find that incredibly annoying. When boybands are done well it's all very well and good but this lot aren't.

Weird, I thought One Direction were terrible on the X Factor and showed very little potential outside of the show. I just figured they were one of those token screaming-fan wanks. Union J were miles better than them at that stage on the X Factor, but as you know, One Direction are smashing worldwide and Syco will ensure they get the absolute best material. Let's just say, if there was a song better than Carry You, One Direction would get it.

Having said that, I personally think this song is much better than most 1D songs, there's something really classy and understated about it, without being totally mushy (see: WMYB, Gotta Be You, One Thing, More Than This, Little Things).

It's #5 on the album chart in the UK and #2 in Ireland so looks like they'll do well upon release. It's nice to have another boyband around... and one (from the UK) that I actually like.
