June 24, 201312 yr Thursday June 27 – BBC Radio 2: Steve Wright In The Afternoon with Patrick Kielty Friday June 28 – Performance on This Morning, ITV Monday July 1 – Performance on Daybreak, ITV Tuesday July 2 – Sats Google+ Hangout Wednesday July 3 – Mollie and Vanessa chatting on Let’s Do Lunch, ITV tbh Mollie tweeted about an exciting fitting but said she can't tell us more till next week! Wonder if they are performing on a big TV Show? Here's hoping it could push Gentleman Top 5. Daybreak performance.
June 24, 201312 yr I can't believe how basic that promo is. First number 1, lets just do daybreak and this morning.
June 24, 201312 yr What a boring line up. I mean, I know I sound like a broken record with the America thing but at least in January we had ALOT to look forward to. Shows like Jay Leno, Today Show, Fashion Police, Wendy Williams and Jeff Probst were all fresh and new shows for the girls and for the fans and it was exciting to see them interact with new talk show hosts and be in new studios. It just isn't the same when they're back in the UK performing on Daybreak for the 14th time or having a chat with Radio 2. :( I hope they're going to go full steam ahead with promo for single #3 and the album. I wasn't expecting alot for 'Gentleman' but I was hoping for at least one of the *big shows* (Graham Norton or Jonathon Ross, maybe The Voice). edit - and wasn't that Google + Hangout thing a complete shambles last time? Rochelle was yawning throughout the entire thing, Mollie and Una done a runner because it was so boring and it was just full of awkward silences, beauty questions and fake laughs from the girls. I think they even talked about how much of a mess it was in a flip video soon after it. How is that supposed to promote them, just talking to four or five fans in a chat room for an hour? June 24, 201312 yr BBC Radio 2 is the most listened to radio station in the UK, although I doubt their main demographic lies within the age range of most Radio 2's listeners.
June 25, 201312 yr To be honest, that promo schedule is INDEED weak and it's not us - fans/stans - moaning for nothing. The girls used to have one late night show on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday night for every single. That promo slot usually have more audience than their This Morning/Daybreak/Loose Women slot. Now, they don't even have one. Obviously, it's a matter of "Can they book it?" "Is there anything avalable right now?" etc...And indeed it's not the fault of the girls or whatever, but it doesn't change the truth that this promo schedule is weak.
June 26, 201312 yr Slightly off topic, but does anyone else keep mis-reading the thread title as "The Porno Thread"? No? Just me then? Wishful thinking? Alrighty. :P
June 26, 201312 yr Hmm, yes that promo is weak but at the same time they are doing all they can. As far as I can see, there really is nothing on UK TV right now (that they could perform/chat/promote on). There's nothing else they can get on. It's catch 22. No evening primetime shows, no evening chat shows (Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross etc) airing now. Looking at a TV guide, the only evening/big show, other than what they have, they possibly could have had tried booking would have been Graham Norton but even that show is finishing its series tomorrow night and that is fully booked with guests/a music guest which would have been sorted far in advance. We can say they should try for that show or this show but it's probably harder than we realise to organise it all, and at the same time they'll need to save promo spots for the next single/album. It's weak because there really are no evening shows at the end of the week that have a larger audience airing right now. They can't get on a show like that if there isn't one on TV right now. TV promo is generally limited right now for every artist. Their #1 has come at a pretty awkward time for them to have new doors opened for them in terms of TV promo as there really is nothing for any artist to get on right now other than the usual daytime TV/morning shows. And now their new found ability to push for bigger shows is going to be lost because they can't promote Gentleman as widely right now on TV and they'll be back to MHTO/30 Days ground again. :( I guess the basic promo (which is all they can do for this release given what's on, or rather the lack of, what's on TV) is more worrying given the fact that it really does seem like nobody knows this single is coming out on Sunday, and the fact it's so divisive. They could definitely do more radio interviews though to bulk it up a bit more, that's for sure. Moving on, I'm slightly worried that this may indeed miss the top 10. Only The Sats would go from a #1 to potentially missing top 10. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. They're kinda screwed either way - releasing this week is worrying for its chances, but pushing it back would have pushed the next single/album even further into Q4 territory. Where do people honestly think it'll chart? Airplay is so-so (hopefully Radio 1 will A List it today?!) but the EP is around #200 on iTunes (eek)... I'm thinking anywhere from #9-#15. I think it'll go the same way as Stooshe's 'Slip'. Edited June 26, 201312 yr by Encore
June 26, 201312 yr At this stage I wouldn't be surprised if it missed the Top 10, but of course I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it does go Top 10. #6 would be ideal!
