May 22, 201312 yr Naughy Boy is 34k ahead of Daft Punk NO chance of Daft Punk overtaking then! Doesn't look like they'll pass 100k either, unless Naughty Boy is looking at fantastic first week sales.
May 22, 201312 yr Naughy Boy is 34k ahead of Daft Punk So, according to my estimates, Naughty Boy should sell at least 124k this week. Wow! :o
May 22, 201312 yr Big changes in the album chart and with all the new entries Rod Stewart is so far performing very well as i fully expected 30 seconds to Mars to be number 2. How wonderful it is to see Texas in the top 5 but i don't think they will stay there, but they will hopefully be safe for the top 10. Emelie Sande looks likely to miss the top 10 this week but i wouldn't bet against her returning and claiming the number 10 position by the time the official chart is announced.
May 22, 201312 yr Author Sande's record breaker heading out of Top 10 Source: MW Paul Willams Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events looks like dropping out of the UK Top 10 this Sunday after spending a record-breaking 66 weeks there for a debut album. The Virgin release set the longest consecutive run by a debut album in the Top 10 in April as it surpassed the previous best of 62 weeks set by The Beatles' Please Please Me in 1964. However, Sande's album now appears poised to leave the Top 10 this coming weekend having fallen 8-16 in the Official Charts Company's latest midweeks. The current No 10 album in the midweeks, Dramatico/Grand Mono act Caro Emerald's The Shocking Miss Emerald, has a sales lead over Our Version Of Events this week of around 41%.
May 22, 201312 yr Author Most of the new albums have entered high with the exception of The Tribes, that has pushed most of the albums down this week, I don't think Emeli can go much further back up, I think at a push she could be at least #13 or #14 by Sunday.
May 22, 201312 yr Emeli holds the record now so im sure she wont be bothered by this and with the sales she has achieved i think it is true to say the album has been a massive success.
May 22, 201312 yr Hmm, not as confident as I was yesterday about Daft Punk's album doing over 200k :P I don't think it's entirely impossible though. If it sells another 20k per day for the rest of the week it'll still be on 180k which is still great. Wasn't expecting to see The National as the second highest new entry but very pleased to see it, hope this album can outpeak 'High Violet' for them. Thirty Seconds To Mars underperforming a bit IMO, although to be fair neither of their previous albums went top 10 so maybe it was a bit unrealistic to predict it top 2. The return of my favourite person ever in music Joe Bonamassa once again *.* He never keeps us waiting for long. Eek at Emmelie dropping 5-10 since yesterday, that doesn't look good. Hope she can hold onto the top 15... Looks like The 1975's EP sales are being combined in this time if 'The City' is showing up in the top 20, it will be a comfortable second top 40 for them then :D And I'll believe it when I see it on Sunday but YES at Emeli currently being well outside the top 10 albums. She was getting dangerously close to overtaking the initial top 10 run of '21'.

May 22, 201312 yr NO chance of Daft Punk overtaking then! Doesn't look like they'll pass 100k either, unless Naughty Boy is looking at fantastic first week sales. Well the OCC would probably have mentioned if Naughty Boy was selling double Daft Punk so it's probably safe to assume Daft Punk are at least above 34k at this stage. They may fall short of a fifth top 100 week but probably not by miles.
May 22, 201312 yr Author And on that note MW mid report added, and that was my last Weds update, due to personal commitments., if anyone wants to take it on a regular basis let a chart mod know via PM.
May 22, 201312 yr Daft Punk will likely outsell some of their previous albums combined sales in one week with the new album.
May 22, 201312 yr Not good for 30 Seconds to Mars. If Gaslight Anthem (yes, I'm using them as an example again) can get a #2 album then 30STM should as well, even if they need double the sales to make it as seems likely. At least with new entries at 5 and 6 then there's a good chance of them holding their position, though. Their sales will probably hold up marginally better than The National as well, so #3 isn't necessarily out of the question while we don't have sales data.
May 22, 201312 yr Naughty Boy is on 77k I reckon using the OCC article already posted here and this other OCC article talking about RAM going to no.1 on albums chart. http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/d...-memories-2233/ It also mentions Get Lucky becoming the biggest selling single for this year with sales of 649000 in total, so that's 43k this week for daft punk.
May 22, 201312 yr So, my calculations are telling me that Naughty Boy will sell 177,100 copies and Daft Punk will sell 103,200 copies this week? I'm not so sure at all about the Naughty Boy figure personally...

I'm not so sure at all about the Naughty Boy figure personally... I think your estimate for Daft Punk is pretty much correct (can't imagine them being lower than ~95k) and I think Naughty Boy may be more in the 150k area. Did you bare in mind pre-orders with you calculations?

Oh I didn't bother checking the albums report for singles sales info! 'Get Lucky' was on 49k this time last week and ended up well over 100k, so another week over 100k is definitely still very possible and it should definitely do another 90k+. 77k is fantastic for Naughty Boy, should end up around the same sales area as Daft Punk's 2nd and 3rd weeks!

Did you bare in mind pre-orders with you calculations? On the midweeks chart on Radio 1 Jameela said that Naughty Boy was 30,000 ahead of Daft Punk so 77k sounds about right if Daft Punk have sold about 43k so far this week.
May 22, 201312 yr Author Daft Punk single 2013's biggest seller Source: MW Paul Willams Darft Punk's Get Lucky has overtaken Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's Thrift Shop to become the biggest-selling single of the year in the UK. The Columbia release, which achieved its fourth week at No 1 last Sunday, surpassed Thrift Shop's 2013 tally this week and has now sold around 650,000 copies since its release in April, according to the Official Charts Company. However, the single featuring Pharrell Willliams looks like it will be replaced by Virgin act Naughty Boy's single La La La with Sam Smith at No 1 this weekend as the French act's album Random Access Memories heads to the top of the UK artist albums chart with the fastest sales of the year. Thrift Shop on the Macklemore label is now the year's second top seller behind Get Lucky, while Justin Timberlake's Mirrors is at 3, fellow RCA release Just Give Me A Reason by Pink featuring Nate Ruess at 4 and Mercury act Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble at 5.
May 22, 201312 yr I hope Demi can just grab a Top 5 with her new album and surely that AWFUL Eurovision song will let Demi's 'Heart Attack' back into the top 10. I don't want it having a chart run of 03-11. Edited May 22, 201312 yr by CallumTheSats4
