May 24, 201313 yr They also tweeted that Get Lucky has sold almost 700,000 so that means it's sold in excess of 90,000 already this week. That's amazing, but it also means the number 1's sales are going to be pretty mammoth, considering the huge lead earlier in the week.

I was just about going to post the whole article, its probably common knowledge that Naughty Boy is #1 today not going anywhere else, Daft Punk and Passenger have to be #2 and #3 respectably, if I have to guess the reminder of the top 5 by looking at iTunes, #4 Macklemore and #5 2Chainz. May 24, 201313 yr Looks like I was wrong about 'Random Access Memories' not being too frontloaded then - still not seeing this as a disappointment though, this is still the biggest first week sales of the year by some distance and it won't end up too far off the highest weekly sale in the whole of 2012. It's only disappointing by extremely high expectations. Not sure how it'll do after week 1 though, hopefully it can produce at least one more big single because there's only so much it can do off the back of 'Get Lucky'.
May 24, 201313 yr Why the :( , if someone had told you at the start of the year that a new DP album would open with 170k, you'd have used one of these : :cheer: I know just annoyed that after 2 days doing 104k thought 170k would be at least achieveable. The slow down just shows the lack of casual buyers/shoppers in record shops. The downloads vs physicals will be interesting to see for this. 90k for DP is brillant in the singles. Should do at least 115k again!! With 150-160k for the number one those are great sales. Think NB has slowed a bit according to Itunes bars now only 20% ahead of DP combined so NB has slowed down a bit!!

The Columbia release had shifted 133,472 copies in the UK up to the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company, beating the previous 2013 opening sales high of 121,415 units set in April by Reprise/Warner Bros act Michael Buble's To Be Loved. However, the Daft Punk album still has two more days of buying to push up its first-week number so is likely to get off to the best sales start for a debut release since at least November last year when One Direction's second Syco album Take Me Home attracted 155,316 takers. Such is the demand for Random Access Memories that it continues to outsell the rest of the Top 10 artist titles combined. May 24, 201313 yr I think the OCC must have been stretching 'nearly 700k', there's no way Daft Punk are on ~90k for the week so far if Naughty Boy is 'only' on 108k. The gap between them has probably widened as I'm pretty sure Naughty Boy has still been comfortably outselling them since the Wednesday update. They're probably closer to the 70k mark (still a very good chance of doing 100k+ considering they get a boost at the weekend and they sold somewhere in the region of 27k in the last 2 days). Naughty Boy should end up somewhere around 140-145k now, he's also been a tad more frontloaded than I expected but still rather incredible sales, would never have predicted it to be that big. Yeah, I think Saturday is still the 2nd-biggest day of the week for albums (behind Monday, if you include all preorders as part of Monday sales), so Daft Punk should still add a hefty number to their sales before the end of the week. I wouldn't say "only" selling 30k on Weds+Thurs means it's definitely slowing down, I don't think albums typically sell that much on those days. Edited May 24, 201313 yr by Danny
