I was just thinking, Sunday could be an ideal day for Icona Pop to release. There's nothing big released next week and 'Blurred Lines' will have had a couple of weeks to wear off a bit.
Oh wow, I never realized Ashanti got blocked by Elvis. :( She got a #1 from Wonderful at least.

Ja Rule completely destroyed Ashanti's career with his actions back then imo, which is a shame, since she didn't deserve that imo. She released a single recently and it's really nice imo. He finally got released from prison last month I believe, so maybe they can get chart hits again (not getting my hopes up though ).

What happened between them?

It's a shame 'Only U' narrowly missed out on the #1 spot. It still sounds great even today. I'm glad 'Wonderful' got to #1 though. Ashanti and Ja Rule have had some great songs. I love 'Always On Time'.

What is the Leann Rimes upsurge about?

Coyote Ugly was on ITV2 last night.

The sales are from http://fatherandy2.proboards.com/ in the "Facts & Figures (Sales) Archive" section. ^_^

You're absolutely right!

20,463 Elvis Presley (#1)

12,753 Manic Street Preachers (#2)

Shocking, so glad sales like these for the top positions are a thing of the past.

Indeed, this early 2005 period was nearly the death knell for the singles chart (a bit like last summer for the albums) with no1 singles selling 20k each week. Think things changed as downloads grew throughout this year & then the rules changed so dloads were universal from jan 2007 (Gnarls Barkleys Crazy release in April 2006 showed the potential of this when in his first week he went straight to no1 on downloads alone). Then the bom period imo began in the week in October 2007 with XF help when Leona Lewis sold a staggering 218k and Take That did 98k in the same week. The first big sales for 2 original pop songs outside of xmas since 2003!!

It would be a good battle still. With a performance this friday on Graham Norton Blurred Lines could sell 165k this week and over 100k next week again!!

An extract from the iTunes chart this morning...

357. Please Remember - LeAnn Rimes

491. Please Remember - LeAnn Rimes

:)

 I love this song.

I wonder if 'Treasure' will be getting a music video. 'Marry You' never got one and also apparently Bruno's mum has passed away so he'll probably take time off.

Glad to see 'Beautiful' going top 20 again. Hopefully it can get there officially.

The video was completed about a 2 weeks ago so I'm sure we should be getting it anytime but I doubt he will promote for obvious reasons.

What is the Leann Rimes upsurge about?

Olly's probably went up a place due to it being heavily played at the end of Towie last night  .

I really thought Union J would be doing better, although I think Top 10 would be good for their first single.
Have Stooshe left the iTunes top 100 singles already?! Couldn't find it anywhere when I searched, and I'm sure yesterday they were around the #65 mark.

I really like that Antenna song. #Needsbeno1

Glad Canet Feet the Moonlight is back, I remmeber that song from when I was a kid, it was everywhere. Didn't we have the 1-weekers chart battles at that time?

Think it went like:

Moonlight 1 week

Independent Women 1 week

Holler? 1 week

And some more I can't remember

 97. Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit Of...) - Lou Bega

59p, lol i use to see the music video for this all the time when i was younger. I think this was used for a Guiness advert as well.

 57. Loreen Harris - I Love It (I Don't Care) [Radio Version]

One more place to go to beat Stephanie Treo, and another 5 places to beat Iconic Pop Band if I remember correctly! :kink:

Alicia Keys "New Day" to #306. Rising nicely and will rise a lot more next week after being B-listed by Radio 1!

She's on/has an interview with Greg James later today (on Radio 1) so hopefully it will get into the 100's by tonight.

Is she over here? In that case shes bound to be on tv this weekend somewhere?
