Why do Arctic Monkeys insist on releasing new material midweek rather than waiting until Sunday? I'm guessing their not fussed with chart position, which is odd for a band with 2 #1 singles.

But that's irrelevant, as sales are allocated to individual songs, and therefore chart positions should be, too.

WHOA Arctic Monkeys coming out of nowhere there. I don't recall 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair' doing anywhere NEAR this well, so pretty surprised to see it off to such a massive start. Similar to 'Crying Lightning' (and will probably peak around the same since it's another stupid Wednesday release).

 

EDIT: Don't think 'R U Mine?' ever did this well either. Completely forgot that song even happened. 'Come Together' also didn't but that was different.

EDIT2: Oh 'R U Mine?' is back in the top 200? Weird.

 

Eek at 'Get Lucky' dropping out of the top 10, but it's obviously still there combined and will probably re-enter soon anyway. Tom Odell #9.

Are you seriously saying it's a 'fast slump' when they've spent the last 8 and a bit weeks in the top 10? Even ignoring the fact they still have 2 versions top 25.

I don't think a lot of bands of the same ilk as the Arctics whose hey day was in 2006/7 can still go top 5 on iTunes instantly - good on them, I really need to hear this.

 

I wish they would've released it on a Sunday though - it could've actually got them another top 10 hit, as it stands, it'll probably be another one week wonder...

Arctics (though I'm not a fan) must care about the music and not commercial radio hits/ generically produced radio fodder.

 

 

How can people forget R U Mine?? One of my Fav AM tracks!! Great for Another Love to be hitting the top 10 without capital support.

 

Strange that Dizzees new album is out in 2 weeks there was much mentioned about it!!

I would doubt it - AC seem to like non-album singles, so they'll probably hold it off until their inevitable Greatest Hits album.

Not long till that awful Olly Murs song is gone vfrom T10.

Tom Odell's likely advancement from #11 (midweek position) into the T10 in place of Leah McFall means that Arctics' will be pushing out Taylor Swift if anything this week.
