Tom Odell's likely advancement from #11 (midweek position) into the T10 in place of Leah McFall means that Arctics' will be pushing out Taylor Swift if anything this week.

 04. Arctic Monkeys "Do I Wanna Know?"

So much (good) music being released at the moment, I can't keep up with it all!

I think it's more likely that Olly will be pushed out

Wow at the Arctic Monkeys! It will drop massively in a few days and probably linger somewhere between 15-40 once radio starts playing it, but impressive for a song that has just come out of nowhere. They're not bothered about chart hits, because they're loaded let's be fair. Someone hit the nail on the head earlier though, they're literally the only band out of that massive indie wave in the mid 00s that can still score a decent chart hit.

So how have I managed to miss it all? ;)

To be honest, I don't think any rock/alternative artists are bothered about their chart positions anymore. Apart from maybe their albums.

I think there's a lot of new music out too. There's new songs by well-known artists getting released every day, just they're never going to touch the charts.

Agreed, but even in album terms not many of the mid 00s indie ilk could have a #1 album. I'm not counting Muse and Coldplay in this.

Olly is ahead of Taylor combined and will probably be further ahead later in the week. I don't think the Arctics even have a chance of top 10 though, Wednesday 'alternative' releases never make it.

oh dear.

EDIT: up to #58 now

When do you guys and girls think Blurred Lines will get knocked off #1?

The week John Newman's song gets released (hopefully).

Are you suggesting that it'll be John Newman who dethrones Robin? I really can't work out whether Icona Pop or JN will be #1. I hope it is Icona Pop though. It screams summer anthem.

I still personally think John will get the #1, but both will sell over 120k and end up 2 of the biggest sellers of the year easily! Icona Pop will sell more overall I think though despite possibly not peaking at #1. I love both songs, its a shame that one of them will miss out on the #1!
I think The Wanted are being overestimated, I think they will end up at #2. Their pre-order isn't doing as well as Jason's did (it could suddenly climb though) and Jason still only reached 0.8. Even though Robin's sales will be decreasing, I think that The Wanted possibly may just peak at #1 on iTunes due to the front-loaded sales, but will get to #2 officially as they will fall quickly after the first 2 days.

Robin will be lucky to sell 100k next week so it could be very close!

I wonder how many different artists are going to cover I Love It before Icona Pop drops, Remix Chix must be the 12th or more by now.
The Wanted will surely whack down Robin Thicke? (not that I want them to...)

I think Wanted's chance getting #1 is looking slimmer, I still think Robin Thicke can sell into 6 figures next week. Just have to wait and see. :P

If that does happen then it'll further prove just how stupid the record company has been. As many of us have said, they could've promoted this months ago when it was popular in central Europe and allowed the song to just keep selling throughout the year. Doing a "Gotye" is miles better than doing a "Sak Noel". :D

What, and Love Me Again doesn't scream summer anthem? Plus I Love It was probably a hit everywhere else in Winter/Spring. But I don't know what will be #1 that week. Could even be Robin again lol.

126. Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine?

209. Rihanna feat David Guetta - Right Now

252. Rihanna feat David Guetta - Right Now

266. Leanne Mitchell - Pride

Leanne Mitchell nearly having as much success as Rihanna! Who'd have thought it? :D
