I'll be really surprised if 'Wake Me Up' doesn't have its release date brought forward. When I saw it down as 19th August as its release date, I instantly thought "no way will it be kept back that long". Agree about the track getting released towards the end of July - four weeks off to build up its airplay. Would be even more fantastic if it went up again One Direction's egotistical song 'Best Song Ever' (HA!!! I'm sure it is :P ) and outsold them. Pretty sure 'Wake Me Up' is the best song ever in that chart battle...and I've not even heard the 1D track yet. :D

On a separate note, Icona Pop still building up a fairly decent lead over Robin Thicke so hopefully it'll hang on until Sunday. Massive LOL @ 'Walks Like Rihanna' almost on the verge of being overtaken by 'La La La'. The Wanted might even be low top 10 by the end of the week. They are gonna plummet down the chart next week.

No idea lol. Maybe because it's summer again? Or maybe because of John Newman's solo single. Btw, there's a remix of Love Me Again that they play on Choice FM sometimes, it sounds so much like Feel the Love.

I don't suppose you know how much FTL has sold so far? Pretty sure it's somewhere between 700k-800k

It's probs wishful thinking on my part that it'll hit a million one day -_-

IN LOVE with John Newman song... I'm so f***ing here for him to cruse ITUNES next week!

YAY OMRIMAYO :cheer:

I know it's being used in an advert, but can't remember which one. It's a sports advert. I've seen it a few times over the last week or so.

A Sky Sports ad for summer, believe

July 29th would be the perfect release date for Avicii, the week after One Direction. :D

(And we don't want another song getting in Diana's way ofc)

This is a good point, but I'm sure Diana will beat everyone anyway. :kink:

It be more fantastic, having 8 great #1s on a a trot...not so much love for Naughty Boy though

Duke Dumont 2

Rudimental 1

Daft Punk 4

Naughty Boy 1

Robin Thicke 4

Icona Pop 1

John Newman (I'm pretty sure it be the next 1) 4

Avicci (If the track is released early... 29 July)

But I bet some other track will be #1 after John Newman, I do like the new Avicci track a lot.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was to happen. There doesn't appear to be anything on the release schedule and screams "next UK #1 right here" after John Newman. Then again, we might have another OA/OS track emerging from nowhere in the next couple of weeks that completely shakes up the iTunes chart.

One Direction :(

(and also Fenech-Soler :kink:)

Dance music has really dominated the top end of the singles chart this year.

One Direction :(

Yeah with "Best Song Ever" and if the track fails to hit #1 they should re-title it to "Best Ever Song To Flop" :heehee:

One Direction to do a 'Walks Like Rihanna' thank you very much. :D Fenech-Soler would be the far superior alternative in this case.

Or just 'Best Flop Ever'

So boy-bands miss #1, and that's a flop is it? Okay then.

2013 has been the best year in chart music in AGES imo. It's strange how things changed so fast. Only a few years ago was the major snooze-fest of 2009, and then there was 2011 which was like an entire year of Eurovision.

Tis a shame R1 haven't got on board with Magnetic :( I hope their album can at least make the Top 100

I totally agree, people are being so unfair towards songs by boybands just because "they fall down the chart quickly which automatically means they're not good (:manson:) lolz".

I agree. Okay, I'm not particularly a fan of these boy bands, but some of the accusations made against them are ridiculous imo. There's female pop stars who have way worse songs (and much more annoying fans) than those boy groups. I can't fathom why they're so hated, is it jealousy or something? I really couldn't care less if loads of 12 year-old girls like The Wanted.

Maybe the Wanted aren't flopping, but it's certainly a big underperformance. Obviously unknown acts on independent labels would jump at the chance for a #3/4 single, but for an act that still fancy themselves as rivals to One Direction it's obviously a disappointing result. I mean, they're not doing that much better than JLS's recent singles did, the band who just got dropped didn't have their contract renewed.

Yes i love it too, it is this albums When we Collide!
'Many Of Horror'! They're not Matt Cardull, thank you very much. :P

WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT BOYO! :o :o :(
The Wanted are definitely under-performing considering how much airplay, promotion and general hype the song has had. I was thoroughly expecting them to get to #01 .... and I am one of the very few who don't mind the song! :ph43r:

It's not an under-performance imo. Look at last week's thread, I told everybody again and again this wasn't going to #1. I Found You, which I think was their previous single, was a top 5 hit, sold 100,000, this song will probably do similar to that, that's what I expect from The Wanted these days.

And JLS's most recent single missed the top 100 entirely I think lol. Sometimes a group themselves decides to break up or take a hiatus, like the Black Eyed Peas, N-Dubz, Girls Aloud, etc. Not always because of flopping. But I guess when a boy group does decides to break up people's irrational hatred for them takes over again.

There were some good things about 2009. Dizzee and Tinchy dominating. Eminem and The Black Eyed Peas releasing their first albums after long breaks (and the BEPs dominating majorly!). But that was also the year that produced Break Your Heart by Taio Cruz. :drama:
