Is the MP3 of Mdice's entry meant to be 3 minutes? The full version is so much better!

Voted! A seriously good semi, although it tailed off dramatically towards the end. I so hope my favourites qualify because many of them are looking shaky. </3

Not a bad semi - although I'd have preferred a draw that wasn't immediately after Hendinia, Lolo sounded so slow after Lo.

I'm resigned to the fact I won't even come close to qualifying but this contest seems of a better quality than the last 2 or 3 for me, I've made a lot more great discoveries this time around (semi 2 is pretty weak but there are a lot of tracks I could easily vote for in semi 1!).

 

I suppose I'd definitely better not qualify since it's 'always funny'.

Still waiting on 8 votes, 4 from each semi final!

SF2 is so poor I could cry. Or maybe my taste in music is just completely different two everyone else's, but when I TRIED listening to some of the songs I couldn't help but freak out and think "DO PEOPLE ACTUALLY CALL THIS NOISE MUSIC?". Some of the songs have no lyrical meaning at all, it's as if they've been sent as a joke.

 

And the worst of all is THOSE entries are being predicted to QUALIFY. :hithead:

no no I lovelove Slava and its lyrical simplicity. There are just too many atrocities in SF2 omg to think my 1-6pts were sympathy votes. ONLY 3 NEW DISCOVERIES THAT I ACTUALLY LIKE (Slava being 1).

i thought considering you were at your best in the pop era your songs were a little left of field which is ALWAYS good in my books

Must say BJSC has changed dramatically from when I was last active in it. I remember the days when 80% of the contest was female pop, and sending a male or non-mainstream song would be an auto DNQ.

 

I'd think with that in mind it would be for the better, but NO SF2 is a terrible representation of the above-mentioned change. :drama:

I wouldn't quite go as far about Kath about semi 2 but I did struggle to get to 10 songs I wanted to vote for!

 

I'm enjoying BJSC less in general nowadays. I make a couple of great discoveries a month though and that's enough to keep me in.

For the record, I'm predicting songs to qualify that I'm really struggling to get into, but I'm convinced they will do well with other voters.

 

Sorry Ben but I have to agree with Kath. It's one of the tracks in SF2 that left me wondering "where is the song?" It ain't no Young Galaxy that's for sure. :(

it's a shame as well because it's easily an entry only ben could send & pull off (in fact when i heard it i was about 2 message him going hay are you sending this), i hope it does really well!!!! one of SF2's highlights.

 

a few people are comparing it to T2 - heartbroken as well which i thought a lot of people would get on board with!!

Mdice definitely have this slightly leftfield alt-pop niche genre that they have been excelling in since they returned. I way prefer this Mdice to the Mdice that used to win with songs that wouldn't get past the veto these days. Bipp is another Mdice entry that hugely appeals to me, it's quirky and fun and I love the vocals, even though I can see why others might not.

Oops, missed the deadline. Literally had such a hectic week with moving etc so haven't had time to listen. :( Guess I'm doomed to non-qualification now. Will try to vote in the final though!

Yeah I (obviously) didn't vote either, but honestly I've barely been around and I've not had a spare minute. Unforunately BJSC and BuzzJack as a whole aren't much of a priority when you're on the verge of being homeless, so I doubt I'd be around for the next contest anyway :drama:

Bipp is definitely a song that would get mixed reactions! But I'm glad some ppl are enjoying it. I see it as a bit of a throwback to songs like Heartbroken by T2 or My Destiny by KCat (as least in terms of the vocal style) but with an absolutely bonkers backing track (sort of less-is-more in a Yeezus way). I can't see it winning but it does seem 2 be a track that if people like, they really like.

 

I definitely used to know exactly how to win this contest back during BJSC10-20 days. Like it was almost easy at a certain point — I would browse blogs and could immediately tell whether something had the potential to win or not. It was fun at the time but I'm really glad the contest is where it is now bc it's a lot more unpredictable and fun (that being said it was definitely nice to return to the top 10 last contest!!)

ugh think i have an entry for next month but i can smell a fierce contest for it. it's utterly brilliant
