A little bit of competition is healthy, but the stans are turning this into a war

Well the rivalry is obviously what Katy's label are going at. After the release date of 'Applause' was announced, bam out of nowhere 'Roar' has a release date just one week before 'Applause'. I know it's not Katy and all, but her label really like showing Katy off chartswise. Look at the last era where all the high budget remixes were added to ET/Last Friday Night/The One That Got Away just so that they'd get #1. And now it seems as if they WANT a rivalry with Gaga this era.

 

Lady Gaga's fans would even go on a war against the Cheeky Girls if those two were back to release a single on the same date as MOTHA MONSTA, it's not Katy's fault.

She has the creepiest fanbase of all, it's not a surprise she keeps asking her fans on Twitter to play it cool, they're nothing but scary.

Well, they're the ones who spread the hate actually.

 

I've never really cared for them because I have never really been on the team of one the popstars they used to attack (Christina, Madonna, etc.), but this time around I've found a new love for Katy Perry and I'm disgusted by all the creepy things I can read online about Katy.

As I said, it really should make you think when your favourite popstar is asking her fans to calm down and to be nice to other popstars.

 

It is not against Lady Gaga anyway, she's not the one to blame, but her Little Monsters are quite out of control.

Just heard it for the first time, its not as catchy as her previous hits, could grow on me in time. And I forgot we had a Katy Perry forum -_-

Every fanbase is just as bad as the other. None of them compare to Justin Bieber/One Direction/Beyonce fans (imo), but it does piss me off that on the internet, it feels like you have to like one or the other and you'll get slated for stating otherwise. A lot of the time, although you know it's not the artists fault (EVER), it does actually have a tendency to put you off that particular artist. It's frustrating, but it's gonna happen every time. :(

Katy was asked on Twitter whether 'Roar' was being released at midnight in the US only or worldwide and Katy replied:

Y'all have too much time on your hands if you think it's a 'war'... you're just feeding the promotional strategy set up by both artists' record labels. Just enjoy the music and stop comparing stats. Gaga and Katy are two very different artists, and there's plenty of room for both.

The iTunes pre-order has a release date of September 8th, but yesterday Katy tweeted that it will be released in the UK "sooner than we think".

Her Wide Awake lyric video was one of my favourites, she always makes them really unique - can't wait for the main video though :wub:

I am a fan of Katy Perry and I like simple lyrics as much as the next person, but 'Roar' takes the biscuit. I know her target group might be young but surely they're not about 5? I JUST WANT MORE WORDS WITH MORE THAN ONE SYLLABLE IN.

 

Saying that, I don't mind the song after a few listens. I don't tend to like lead Katy Perry singles, I find all the singles that come after to be much better.
