I don't think 'Applause' will go to number one now (not that I thought it would since it was released). I can't think of any songs recently that have climbed to #1 (without being #1 previously).

The last song to climb to #1 was Timberlake's Mirrors back in March unless you count Let's Get Ready To Rhumble as a climb, so yeah I think any chance she had of going to #1 has gone - especially with the amount of competition we have at the moment.

 

Klangkarussell should be next week's #1 as long as Katy Perry doesn't release (please don't release Roar I want Sonnentanz at #1)

This year has been a bit 'debut at #1' heavy even with more long-running #1s than usual hasn't it... the only 2013 #1s that climbed there were 'Scream & Shout', 'Thrift Shop', 'Mirrors' and 'Get Lucky', the latter only because it was released on a Friday.

I agree with you :) Sonnetaz is such a great song!!! :) I think the most they will bring Katy's forward is a week so maybe on 1st september....so Klangkarussell #1 next week the maybe Katy the week after....Sounds pretty good to me!

You could also say that S&S would've debuted at #1 if it didn't clash with the XF winners single, and that Thrift Shop and Mirrors would've debuted at #1 if they'd been held back releases ^_^

Maybe it's because 2013 has been a really busy year for big releases (the long string of huge #1s proves that). But it was only last year since the likes of PSY and Gotye were climbing to #1. I think that if Passenger was released last year, it would've reached the top spot (thank GOD it didn't).
