Matt'n'Mel are going to #1 and you will deal.

You gave Funhouse a -1 what do you know anyway?

Regina and I have been championing Matella for no.1 for ages now! :cheer:

We said they'd sell 280k first week, and look!

Horrible feeling Loving You will stall at 11 because life's not fair. I'd be near death with laughter though if it ends up knocking Applause out of the top 10 or something....
Looks like there could be potential for 5 new entries top 10 again next week. Klangkarussell are probably the only absolute definites but I'd say DJ Fresh and Matt Cardle look very likely to go top 10 and Naughty Boy and Sean Paul could also have a pretty good chance. EDIT: And of course if Katy releases then she'll be a definite top 10 also.

Good to see the release schedule getting a bit busier after the recent staleness.

It seems bizarre that when you combine the artist with the biggest selling album of the past 18 months (who's also had a number of huge smash hit singles) with an artist that's just had a massive #1 smash that's quickly racing to a million sales, you get a single which will be lucky to make the top ten! Emeli-fatigue or do people just genuinely not care for Lifted?

This is exactlly why I think it will do better than what a lot of people are predicting - I could be wrong though!

I'd say typical Naughty Boy + Emeli just isn't a combination the public really care for. 'Heaven' was of course a smash but then look what happened with 'Daddy' and later 'Wonder'. His label shouldn't have ran right back to her but they had to play it safe I guess.

I've only heard Lifted a few times on the radio, and I struggle to remember how it goes in all honesty. In comparison, La La La is still being hammered. I think this is definitely gonna overshadow his new one.

Sonnentanz was a lot better as an instrumental, but this new version is still very good. It would be an amazing number 1 if it got there.

I haven't listened to the song yet but I'd love for them to do well just because it'd be so out of the blue.

And I know that Pink has been in decline since 2008.

They're buying Matella instead.

MUST 'Matella' become the new term for this duet?! It sounds like a brand of Chocolate Spread.

'Lifted' is very weak, I like the production as ever but it feels like a rehash of a rehash and Emeli's vocals really add nothing to it. 'La La La' was a fresh and different sounding song, he's taken a huge, huge step back from that by going with his most unoriginal single to date. I'm not surprised 'Lifted' looks like struggling and I'm confused why he seems to have run back to Emeli for 'safety' when his biggest hit to date by far was the track without her.

I guess they thought a shit song with Emeli would always do better than a shit song without her. Low risk low reward, or something.

I'd hope 'La La La' isn't his only good song because he's a really good producer, he just keeps wasting his production on identical-sounding Emeli tracks

There's not really much else on the album that I could see actually being a single, though. Lifted was probably the perfect choice for this slot, and it seems to be fairly radio friendly (Capital and Forth One have been playing it a lot when I've been in the car). The only other song I could have seen being a single is Think About It. But naturally, Lifted > Think About It :kink:
Mellanie C doesn't look right. :(

No, the second l is taken from their surnames :P

And what is your signatureeeeee <_<

Yes :P

I agree with Bre, it is really odd how he seems to have little faith in all of his songs without Emeli. I do get the feeling that people are bored with her atm. I mean, even Adele knew when it was time to take a break from the music scene. Emeli has been everywhere pretty much for the past 18 months (possibly even two years considering the overplaying of RAAI). The Naughty Boy/Emeli collaborations are nearly as tedious as the J Lo/Pitbull ones. Although at least NB/Emeli collabs are usually great.

I just can't wait to see what sound they come up with for Emeli's second album.

We are nearing Q4 :) which is great!!

Not too sure about Sean Paul it's alisted on radio 1 but for some reason capital haven't added it?!

The Sean Paul track is nothing special whatsoever. It doesn't have the same appeal as "She Doesn't Mind" and isn't even that uplifting. I stand by my prediction that it'll miss the T10 (though weren't we down to 26k for #10 last week?).

Re: Naughty Boy, he's been working with Emeli Sande since he began so it's no wonder he wants his success to be shared with her. The problem with producing essentially her whole album is that "Lifted" now just sounds like any other track on there. Granted they've made the production a little heavier, but... I'm still a fan though and hope it can debut in the T10. Have pre-ordered his album, which going by the previews is an album to be proud of.

Exactly. She herself has also stated that OVOE was just as much his album and success as it was hers. They're a team, and they've worked with each other since the beginning of both of their careers, and I doubt they plan on changing that. It is interesting though that people pick up on the fact that he seems to be stranding himself with Emeli, but he had just as much involvement in her singles as she did on his.
