Well an artist working with the same producer for a lot of their singles is pretty standard practice, whereas a producer working with the same vocalist for most of their singles is not so much. (Naughty Boy only produced 3 of the hits from 'Our Version Of Events' anyway and one of those was a complete bomb).

 

Incidentally 'Clown' being a Naughty Boy production always surprises me. Sounds nothing like anything else Naughty Boy has been involved in. Which is a good thing. Don't need more like 'Clown' from him :P

Still not sure who we'll see in the T10 on Sunday. Arctics were down to #6, The Wanted were at #7, Ray Foxx was at #12 and Drake was at #15. They're almost reversed on iTunes. Reckon Ray Foxx will stall at #11, unless it can get a decent weekend boost.

But they do work on a more intimate level than just "producer does the work on the songs for singer". They're best friends, always write together when they can, and they give each other opportunities to succeed with the music they make. It's not as if his album is destroyed because he works with Emeli a lot. There are several other artists on the album, but I think it's only fair that given their connection and friendship they'd want to make the most music together, and he'd want her to feature on several tracks with her, likewise with him on her album(s).

Red One worked loads with GaGa (back in her heyday :cry: ) but still diversified, might just be doing that, building up a base before producing for others.

Oh God I hope not, Broken Strings is probably one of the most overplayed songs of the past five years. I still unwillingly am subjected to it on the playlist at the pub where I work. I also hear it whenever I hear someone with Heart FM on or other radio stations like that.

 

It's a good song, but so so overplayed after all these years.

Broken Strings was #2 in the year-end airplay chart of 2009 I think. So yeah, quite a lot of airplay. :lol:

 

I know others have said it now, but it's unfair to say Naughty Boy is collabing with Emeli because it's "safe". Even if Emeli wasn't famous he'd probably still be releasing songs with her. I would've liked a different featured artist on his single though.

This is a disaster :(

I like Emeli's vocals on 'Lifted' and although it is similar to 'Heaven', I loved that and I love this too. I think her vocals sound better here than they did on 'Wonder'. I agree though, the collaboration with Sam Smith has been the best of the three so far. It'll be great to see him experiment with other guest vocalists in the future.

This new single has nothing on 'Wonder', not at all. :( That was such a great, uplifting song.

 

Much prefer it to 'La La La' too.

Actually can't believe Matt & Mel are Top 75 on pre-orders!! Life long Spice maniac and after Mel's recent chart performances I didn't dare believe this would be a hit and resigned myself to the fact it would be lucky to go Top 100 officially but now it looks like an almost certain Top 20 hit!!

I agree, until recently it screamed #82 smash to me. I am quite loving it though, so it's a pleasing surprise hit.

I love how everyone is referring to LY as a hit already, regardless of the fact that it hasn't even charted. :lol: The next iTunes thread is either going to be full of crazed stan looning (by Regina) or complete underwhelment.

It will be a hit though. Pre-orders don't lie. (Except for when they do).
