It's coming :wub: Kelly Clarkson releases her first Christmas album Wrapped In Red on October 29th! I can't wait, Grown Up Christmas List and I'll Be Home For Christmas are amazing and she never disappoints.

"Wrapped In Red" is due Oct. 29, and the new song "Underneath the Tree" will be its first single.

 

Wrapped In Red, the singer/songwriter's first yuletide outing, will be ready for unwrapping Oct. 29. The collection will feature holiday classics such as Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Run Run Rudolph, Please Come Home For Christmas and Blue Christmas alongside original tunes.

 

Among the latter: the first single, Underneath the Christmas Tree, co-written by Clarkson and Greg Kurstin, who collaborated on her 2011 album Stronger.

 

In a statement, Clarkson said she was "super excited to put out my first Christmas record. I absolutely love Christmas music and have had a total blast recording and writing for it. I can't wait for y'all to hear it."

B) Leona wasn't the original XF winner, she won series 3

I want both albums to be fair, but I doubt either will top Celtic Woman's collections/ violin-heavy vids.

I think she's going to do really well in the US. I think she'll do well in the UK as I'm sure she'll get a slot on the X-factor. Hopefully it'll be able to go gold at the very least in the UK. :D

If she can put an original Xmas song on there, she could make this a really successful XMas album... like Sarah McClachlan's "Wintersong".

Oh I was half-joking :lol: There's no chance this will be a big Christmas album (like Buble and Joe McElderry etc..) but I'm hoping it can get a couple of weeks top 20 at least. Would be wonderful for her seeing as I always think she's too much "under the radar" and kinda just "passes by" with the general public. :(

I wonder what makes an artist want to record a Christmas album. It strikes me as mind numbingly dull and bereft of any real creativity. It's just a load of cliches wrapped up as an album, then flogged to be listened to one month a year.

It's probably purely for commercial reasons. They seem to be trying to transition her into being more of an adult-contemporary artist now (she's been dipping into the country market as well for that reason), and Xmas albums are a good, relatively easy way of doing that in the US.

 

It won't do a thing in the UK though obviously.

I think that we will have the best Christmas ever (musically)!!!! Two of the best singers have Christmas albums!! I love both Kelly and Leona!!! I hope Kelly will smash in U.S.A and Leona in U.K!!!
