August 31, 201312 yr But Moves Like Jagger wasn't REALLY a good example because it excluded six songs, which is a pretty big number in terms of particular songs tbh. Wake Me Up only excluded two. Yes but still a more reasonable example than 'any song if you take away enough songs' just to diminish Maroon 5's achievement.
August 31, 201312 yr So could literally any song if you 'take away' enough of the songs above it in 7 weeks. That was kind of my point!
August 31, 201312 yr MAROON 5 HAVE NEVER AND WILL NEVER ACHIEVE ANYTHING DIE Don't be so silly. They've had a number one single. They've had a track that has sold going on 1.5m copies. How is that not achieving anything? If you don't like them fine but that comment is as idiotic as any of the Gaga loon stuff that you have been complaining about.
August 31, 201312 yr That outburst was somehow more funny than the original post (which was what was being intended btw).
August 31, 201312 yr Avicii's chart run is amazing 1-1-1-2-2-2-2 if it remains at #2 for a 4th week, surprisingly he could have had 7 weeks at #1 :o Emmm... no. If he remains at #2 for a fourth week, he will have had 3 weeks at #1 and four at #2. Silly comment.

August 31, 201312 yr Yes but still a more reasonable example than 'any song if you take away enough songs' just to diminish Maroon 5's achievement. Oh I didn't think you were being serious. I didn't say that to diminish Maroon 5's achievement, I just think it's quite pointless and silly to say a song 'could have had [x] weeks at #1' unless there's some proper contextual reason for why it could have made #1, like say Dario G's 'Sunchyme' could have been #1 if Princess Diana hadn't died because then Elton wouldn't have released his song and blocked it. Otherwise you're just saying 'if it had been more popular than this other song that week it would have been the most popular song'. Duh. That applies to all songs ever.

When Martin said "Avicii could have spent 7 weeks at #1", I don't think he intended it to be taken so seriously. Like I said before, there's a major difference for saying that about song like 'Wake Me Up' which has a chart run of 1-1-1-2-2-2-2 and another one which has one like 90-86-88-99.

I always wondered why it didn't get to no.1, my brother said at the time it was a big battle between two African-themed songs (well, the videos were set there and the backing music I think? based a little on the continent), Janet Jackson and Dario G (took me ages to find Dario last year when I forgot it and could hear the tune in me head, months in fact). He said Janet got the #1 and Dario came #2 in a massive chart battle royale. Martin just meant that if Avicii hadn't been blocked he could have been at no.1 for 8 weeks, that the song had the POTENTIAL to be no.1 for that many weeks when most songs do not have that sort of stayin power.

Well Miley sounded screechy, and Burn is not Ellie's strongest, if you get what I mean :D
August 31, 201312 yr Miley sounded screechy? There is one song that outdoes everyone on that count this year  But eah, it is a surprise Hannah Montana got to no.1 and that Ellie Goulding got there too, they weren't really big singles artists before that, so I get what ya mean.

August 31, 201312 yr Would it be safe to assume that Read All About It Part III has featured in X Factor in some way?
August 31, 201312 yr Would it be safe to assume that Read All About It Part III has featured in X Factor in some way? You could go so far as to say it's safe to assume it was sung by someone with a big sob story. (Which is correct).
