I think somewhere between 150-175k, more likely to be around 155-160k.

175k-200k. I have an incredibly good feeling about this doing at least this much this week, in fact I wouldn't be too surprised if it actually did go over 200k. My house mate who usually cocks his nose up to my (brilliant) pop tastes ( :drink: ) has been hammering it on youtube a lot lately. He tells me he's not even ashamed to say it either. So if that's him (someone who doesn't like much chart music as it is) saying it, he's one of the "Joe Public" so it gives me a good indication as to how it'd appeal to other people (also a few people have made statuses about this song!)

Gone are the days except Christmas where songs sell over 500k when released first week :(

I'm going for 165k and it deserves to sell that amount if not more as well :)

Well, it's no California Gurlz, some sales will be lost from the held-back release ...

She's at a high position on preorders but has a similar fan base to GaGa, but then this song is slightly more popular.

So taking GaGa's three week tally of 90,000, condensing it into one week + more hype from a held-back release, no.1 effect, slightly more popular song....

I estimate when taking all these into account

120,000-135,000

How will sales be lost from being held back? There's been no fakes (to my knowledge) reach the top 300, and the pre-order has consistently been top 50 since it was available for order.

After the amount 'Get Lucky', 'Blurred Lines' and 'Roar' have sold, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if this did managed 200k. I hear the video is being released at the end of next week so that will double its weekend effect, plus there's lots of hype for it so I'd be shocked if it managed less 150k.

I'll go for 175k-200k, but to be honest, I don't find the song to be that good.

Boredom and/ or illegal downloads.

I reckon around 160k+, the track has been high on pre-orders, for me the single is just average, not a patch on her previous hits, but its beginning to grow on me.
I'll go for 145k, and a chart run similar to Naughty Boy's 'La La La'. :D
Definitely over 150k, radio has been all over it and everything about it sounds like a huge hit. It's nothing new from her, but its decent. Persona-wise, Its a nice turn around from the likes of Part of Me & Wide Awake.

Boredom and/ or illegal downloads.

Who's going to get that bored of a song within a couple of weeks that might have bought it that now won't? Do people really have that short of an attention span?7

As for illegal downloads, if someone's gonna steal. they're going to do it whether it is released early or held back a fortnight.

Yes, and they have youtube and other songs can get their attention in that time. And if they want it, there are ways to get it rather than downloading it weeks and weeks after it premiers through iTunes.
I doubt she has any worries about anyone talking about other songs. This song seems to be on peoples lips lately and I'm not sure that's going to die down as quick as you think it will. As Naughty Boy said on the chart show, this song is as relevant as she is and that's something considering whether you like her or not, she is the biggest popstar on the planet right now, imo. It shows progression, but you clearly know it's Katy. I can see this opening with huge sales and ending comfortably in the EOY top 10.
