Yeah the song is relevant but we've seen what happens OA/OS. Miley's is way more relevant but sales imploded after being held back.

Urgh! Love the song but hate that it's going to open with massive sales - All the time the UK responds with strong first week sales for a held back release the more record companies will do it!

Gone are the days except Christmas where songs sell over 500k when released first week :(

I doubt she has any worries about anyone talking about other songs. This song seems to be on peoples lips lately and I'm not sure that's going to die down as quick as you think it will. As Naughty Boy said on the chart show, this song is as relevant as she is and that's something considering whether you like her or not, she is the biggest popstar on the planet right now, imo. It shows progression, but you clearly know it's Katy. I can see this opening with huge sales and ending comfortably in the EOY top 10.

 

Plus Katy is HOT, whiich is a big advantage where videos are concerned... ;)

Shaping up to be a big hit than, never expecting it to shift many copies let alone over 250k, I probably agree on the pre-orders thing. The single has been out on pre-orders for a while.
