I'm sure Tokyo will do a fine job! Hopefully I'll be living close to Japan than I am now then so will be able to finally visit Japan!

Definitely up for going. I fear it'll be a little sterile as the bid wasn't popular in Japan but they have seven years to turn that around and our outlook before last summer wasn't exactly optimistic. No one seems to have mentioned that while they were the only candidates to have hosted the Games before, it was in Barcelona far more recently so Spain again doesn't exactly smack of excitement - as has been confirmed with Madrid losing out for a third consecutive time.

Madrid's early bids were ridiculously soon after Barcelona 1992. This was the first one where they could reasonably expect to have a chance of winning. I can't help feeling that any US bid for 2024 will start as favourite.

Paris on the 100th anniversary of the moderately successful 1924 Games seem like a good bet, and I'm sure the IOC would love to go to Africa sooner rather than later - Casablanca, Durban and Nairobi all mentioned.

The USA's problem is that they have far more prospective host cities than any other country, apparently over thirty cities were contacted over their interest - including those famous world cities of Sacramento and Charlotte. There was even talk of a joint bid between San Diego and Tijuana before they realised the IOC doesn't allow multinational bids, and the idea of the whole of New England bidding with Boston as the centrepiece. A bit like a really competitive primary before a presidential election, it means if they're not careful they'll be so preoccupied arguing over who their best shout is that they'll end up losing anyway.

Really looking forward to it, most of the action will be on late night/early morning/early afternoon time. It will be an similar approach by the BBC I think in how they showed the 2018 Winter Olympics.

1 year today until the opening ceremony! :cheer: time has flown since Rio.

Time has flown since London :drama: It doesn't feel a second since the Olympic Torch came to our school, and now there are kids in primary school who weren't even born when it happened

Now another year waits for it for obvious reasons. Going to be strange for it to be Tokyo 2020 when it is taking place next year.
