OneRepublic at 2 :o amazing.

Don't get the fuss over the OneRepublic track. They've done some great songs in the past but this just isn't one of my favourites.

Never did I ever expect to see OneRepublic in the top 2 on iTunes in 2013 :o . They're usually so underrated. 'All The Right Moves' and 'Secrets' should have done so much better than they did. Although 'Counting Stars' is a little generic, it still sounds like an anthem and it is a lot better than some of the dirge that's out at the moment!

It's the "Drive By" of 2013. There always has to be a token bland American song to become a hit every year.

YEY at Miley performing ' We Can't Stop' it might somehow manage another week top 10 as I'm sure it will overtake Lana Del Rey, although I'm sure ' Wrecking Ball ' if released will knock ' We Can't Stop ' out of the top 10!

I just don't see anything in 'Counting Stars' that screams #2/potential #1. It's so meh.

While I agree it doesn't scream #1, "Counting Stars" clicked with me instantly - a decent, fun song that rightfully deserves a place in the T10.

I still think it perhaps won't ever peak top 5 officially, it'll be #6 this week and get pushed down by the new releases/weekend effect songs by Monday.

Calm down guys! It's nowhere near number 1 as Katy still has 50%+ lead, doesn't she (even if you combined OneRepublic? :unsure: )? And they're only this high as Gooddelta pointed out, sales below the number 1 aren't exactly booming at the moment. So they're only getting sale which would get you about #9 or something in any other part of the year.

 

I'm just loving seeing them get another, genuine hit. :wub: 'Dreaming Out Loud' is one of my favourite albums and their other stuff has been excellent also! I'm hoping that they can get the album to sell a bit more though as it really doesn't deserve to do as badly as it has done. :(

Pretty much this to be fair, it's not really a battle, though due to our preconceptions of the charts/ how they usually work it looks like one.

 

Was sure I posted earlier asking how many weeks t10 Miley had and how someone's signature, a shocked mask, matched their posting about Katie Melua in t50 :/ Guess my net crashed mid-post again.

Uncombined, OneRepublic have just passed 0.5 and are still rapidly increasing. Not suggesting they're headed for #1 but they're certainly doing better than this post implies (probably selling on ~55-60k a week level (assuming Katy is still selling on a 100k+ a week level which the mids indicate she is) which would be easily top 5 on any week).
