As for the 9/11 anniversary, I remember volunteering at a museum preparing to send some packs out. I remember finding it hard to believe when the head of the department came through with the news. Watched the news later that day and it sank in that it was real. Thoughts are also with the families of the victims and anyone else who suffered as a result of this incident.

 

 

I remember watching it live after I'd picked the kids up from school. It was so shocking when the tower's came down. It's still really shocking to watch now. Makes my blood run cold every time I see it. We went to the 911 memorial this June just gone. I found it very beautiful and obviously very moving. They have a room where they name all the victims and give a little bit of background to their lives. I liked that. Reminded me that they were real people with families, love, hopes and dreams that were snatched away in a second.

It's still raining and windy here, lost power about 2 hours ago, but am currently running on emergency generator here.....still have phone/internet service, which is a good thing, so I can check in hither and yon.....

 

We're safe here, haven't had a chance yet to check exterior of the house for damage, but a neighbor across the street had his wooden fence completely knocked down during the worst of the winds overnight....local authorities are telling everyone to stay inside or in one's yard until they have a chance to check/clear roads from debris/downed power lines...

 

EDIT: I know someone who was in the south tower of the World Trade Center when it was hit, and he was miraculously able to get out, as he was on the 47th floor...someone else I know had several brothers/cousins who were first responders to the World Trade Center....

Why not the iconic one with him in a tree? I thought that one was better. I liked the tree and the nice branches of the tree.

 

Because we can see his beautiful face in the white t shirt one and he's got that defiant "f##k 'em all" look on his face that we Robbie fans love him so much for. B-)

It was the photos of the fire fighters going up the stairwells that I found so chilling because we knew with hindsight what they were going up to.

Thanks for the update Biggy. Saw on the news that a lot of surface water and electrical wires being down in certain areas. Hope you have enough supplies as well.

They are warning folks in Florida about crocidiles & snakes :o

They just mentioned on the news that sitting for more than 60 mins at a time during the day is bad for you & reduces your life expectancy greatly , that's the end of me then with my desk job :P ..I do hit the gym at weekends though so I hope that makes up for it :(

Lost power here at 6:45 in the morning local time 9/11, may very well be without power close to a week....somehow still have water, phone and cable television, and the small generator me dad got 13 years ago is running its little heart out keeping the fridge, plugs, microwave, lights and fans going in the house....of course, it's borderline stifling here at the house with no air conditioning....the roads are a bit of a mess with the downed trees and power lines...

Can someone of the UK people here explain me about the obsession of the newspapers since years with Cheryl Cole or how she is called now? I know she was with Girls aloud and had some hits solo. But since I follow the UK dirt press (since being a Robbie fan) she comes up year after year.
