September 18, 201313 yr Wow a INMWT addition rising to the clist an unusual site also I didn't realise Jake Bugg had a new album so soon, maybe its too soon? Good to see Ben Pearse on the playlist but this is another example of a situation when an addition higher up the list would have made more sense IMO!
September 18, 201313 yr Unusual? Rare, yes but it's not unusal for a song to go from that list to C-List. :P Thank GOD The Sats have been added, just to finally shut up some of their fans in their forum. Honestly.
September 19, 201313 yr A List Katy Perry - Roar B List Birdy - Wings Out of all those, these are the only two I like - and people wonder why I don't listen to R1... :P
September 19, 201313 yr A List ^ Avicii - You Make Me ^ Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (ft. Mary Lambert) - Same Love ^ Tom Odell - Grow Old With Me B List ^ Daft Punk (ft. September 19, 201313 yr They must realise Lorde will be big!! Not exactly difficult considering how big she is everywhere else. Heard her new song 'Team' on R1 last night. Another great song from her. Can't wait for her album.

September 19, 201313 yr Yeah it is rare maybe happens 5/6 times a year. They must realise Lorde will be big!! Well yes, Radio 1 about 3 months behind the rest of the world as usual.
September 19, 201313 yr Well yes, Radio 1 about 3 months behind the rest of the world as usual. Are you seriously blaming Radio 1 for record labels releasing songs later in the UK...
September 19, 201313 yr Well yes, Radio 1 about 3 months behind the rest of the world as usual. I think R1's policy of play listing tracks 3-4 weeks prior to release date is pretty reasonable. The specialist shows (i.e Zane Lowe, etc) play tracks with longer release dates. Playlisting new releases too far in advance just gets the listeners sick of the tracks by the time they get released. It's down to the record companies to set release dates for the tracks, R1 use the info to decide on if & when to playlist the tracks. Edited September 19, 201313 yr by gavindeejay

She hasnt really hit me yet but hopefully with more radio 1 airplay that will change, lets hope this single can reach the a/b list. The last one just made the c list. Though if its not the single directly prior to the album release radio 1 are likely to blist it from past experience(though i await someone correcting me on this)!
September 19, 201313 yr Are you seriously blaming Radio 1 for record labels releasing songs later in the UK... They are part of the problem. If they playlisted tracks as soon as the artist released it to radio record companies would bring release dates forward. It's a dual problem between radio and record companies and it really is a shocking indictment on the uselessness of both when the UK chart is so far behind the rest of the world. Anyway, OA/OS has been discussed to death on here.
September 19, 201313 yr His debut was released last October so 13 months later isn't too soon. better to keep his momentum going Yeah thats true too. I think his type of music would mean his new songs probabaly sound similar to the last album (or were recorded along with his first album material) and so it might be a let down. Also radio 1 not truely backing him until the end of last year means it might be overload. But then again waiting a while can be bad too - look at Mumford & Sons theyre material inevitably sounds samey and they waited 3 years before a comeback. Its hard to tell!!

Anyway, OA/OS has been discussed to death on here. Not really! If record companies sent tracks out to radio with release dates 4 weeks away that would be better, but instead they send tracks out to radio about 6-7 weeks in advance. Some record companies respond to demand of pre-orders and put tracks out early, whilst others don't. Most radio stations only have a limited amount of room on the playlist and don't want them being clogged up for months waiting for the record companies to release them, whilst the listeners are getting tired of them and switching off.
September 19, 201313 yr They are part of the problem. If they playlisted tracks as soon as the artist released it to radio record companies would bring release dates forward. Why are you assuming they didn't playlist it as soon as it was sent out? Unless you have any evidence to support that I can almost guarantee you the problem is the label sending it out late to match the late release date, which is absolutely nothing to do with R1. Not saying it's not a problem that the UK is so far behind the world but I think the blame here lies solely on the labels.
September 19, 201313 yr Brilliant to see Ben Pearce, Showtek, and Wilkinson amongst the additions this week! Relived and glad to see some dance back on the A-list with deserved upward movement for Avicii, Chase & Status and Sub Focus. Good on Daft Punk and Lorde moving up to the B and C lists respectively. :D Hopefully Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ will be added soon.

Why should they need to wait for it to be sent to them before they can play it? The Lorde song has been around for months now but R1 has only just playlisted it. Like I say it's a two way process between record companies and radio.
