If OneRepublic manage to hold on, they would be the first guitar-based band to reach Number 1 since, I believe, The Script just over a year ago?

That's depressing for so many reasons.

Dark Horse N RHW top 20. That's really amazing. :)

Antenna is repetitive, but that's the beauty of it. :D

Christina Aguilara is so successful.

Of course, Antenna is much better song. I like it too

No.30 Fuse ODG - Azonto (UK Radio Edit)

But i wouldn't say the same for Azonto..

No.54 Sia - Elastic Heart (feat. The Weeknd & Diplo)

No.78 Christina Aguilera - We Remain

It would have a better luck if it was a collaboration for her.. :heehee:

No.105 AWOLNATION - Sail

This song needs to be massive as Counting Stars!!! It's out of Top 100 for ages!!! I like it!! Quite different song than the rest..

I guess so  but what was the last *proper* indie/rock/alternative guitar-based Number 1? Paradise? Although even that doesn't sound very guitar heavy! I miss the days when Oasis and bands like My Chemical Romance were getting Number 1s!

When sales get lower in a few years there'll be more #1s like that again. Also, I feel like that type of music has been making a comeback in the chart anyway.

I blame the record label for that balls up!

If they had made the Clubland version an album only track then I know it would have gone top 5!

It was annoying how the rush-released the single version mid-week though. I think they should've released it on Sunday as planned, rather than panicking about it.

Yeah, guitar music is definitely on the way in again. I predict it will reach a peak in the next 2-3 years similarly to the mid/late 90s and then start to go out of fashion again for another 10 years.

I'd say the 90s Indie peak was 1996-98. The 00s was 2004-2006. We're due. But that said, Rock isn't doing very well in its own niche:

What a strange looking chart, with the latest You Me At Six single next to Bon Jovi's 'Livin' On A Prayer' I wonder how it's compiled.

Talking of rock theres the new Wombats single in the top 100!!!

I emailed the OCC about this last year. According to them, artists/labels need to 'opt in' by putting their genre as rock/metal. There do seem to be some cases where the OCC have excluded a song for not being rock enough, as although many songs by Muse have made the chart, "Madness" was not included, even when it was selling enough copies to make the charts.

If it's an OCC chart, I assume it's on sales. Strange that it omits the Kings Of Leon singles though and the Linkin Park/Steve Aoki thing, they're a lot more "rock" than "Stairway To Heaven"

Changing Of The Seasons by Two Door Cinema Club is #24 on the midweek update! :D

Pleased to see 'Azonto' at least looking like a comfortable top 40 hit now, it's not as good as 'Antenna' but it's FUN. Two Door Cinema Club now looking like they have a chance after all as well, another song doing a 'Sex'/'The Mother We Share'! Surprised to see that JME song hanging around still.

266. Wilkinson - Afterglow

94. Eminem - Berzerk

212. John Newman - Cheating

339. The Saturdays - Disco Love

217. Hitsmiths - Bonfire Heart [A Tribue To James Blunt]

It wouldn't surprise me if James Blunt manages to scrape a top 10 hit out of ' Bonfire Heart ' the fact a tribute version is almost ahead of John Newman and is ahead of Saturdays' is encouraging, his album EP is also #50

223. DG Hits - Wrecking Ball.

Delighted that ' Wrecking Ball ' is on course to be a number one smash, Miley should be number one on both singles / album chart next week.

No.27 Fuse ODG - Azonto (UK Radio Edit)

Azonto, Azonto, Azonto, now watch me do Azonto...

No.51 Sia - Elastic Heart (feat. The Weeknd & Diplo)

No.67 Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out

Unpopular opinion but I prefer Leona's version..

I think it's just a sales chart (if that's what you mean). Livin' On a Prayer just has very consistently high sales I guess if You Me at Six's single has already dropped below it.

The Linkin Park song they've put in the dance chart.
