WD to Persephonia for winning :cheer:

Mystic Froot.

THREAD UPDATE TO COME. We won. Points record (albeit a meaningless one). Yas bish yas.

Well WHAT were the chances of my fave winning with my fave in my debut.

WELL DONE Bray, so happy for you and all the better after the slow start. Will be going back to 'Habib Galbi' a LOT.

So I've had this in my head ALL DAY and perhaps 2 Ajanaedan points was a but unjust, at least you didn't need them~ Thanks for the addictive discovery
Massive well done Bre! So happy for you! :cheer: :D A worthy winner which just missed out on points from me :(

Wish you could have exposed it a bit more than just getting it onto playlist. Nevertheless, well done.

V Slayberry
Known for all the wrong reasons, I guess
Well done Bre. Annoyingly, I have come to really like your song after I voted, so sorry for the lack of PRoJ points. Grr!

Persephonian News Bulletin ~ 23/04/2015

bringing you the latest headlines 2 days after they happen

A-WA bring Persephonia a second win!

Persephonia have bounded up the all-time medals table (now sitting pretty in the top 10) as A-WA's 'Habib Galbi' provided us with a second win in BJSC LXXIV, hosted in Hyosan in our neighbouring nation Daehun. It is our fifth top 3 finish and seventh top 10 out of 53 entries to date. We're still yet to manage back to back top 10s, this coming two months after our last top 10 finish is the closest we've come to that so far.

A-WA's win coinciding with the re-introduction of the 18 point system in a field of 68 voters means that for this glorious moment Persephonia technically hold the all time points record with a nominal tally of 344 points, smashing the record of 297 set by Sheelah's 'Psycho' (FSR Rontvia XXVI). That particular victory is a bit HOLLOW as the scoring system meant the winner this month was practically guaranteed the record - in fact second place also beat the previous record - but we'll still mention it because yanno. With all votes scaled down to the standard 12 point system the song received a more down-to-Earth total of 195 points, still comfortably in the lead. In terms of percentage of points available it is 'only' our fifth most successful entry. The song failed to secure our third semi-final win, coming 2nd in semi-final 2 with 103 points. The one song that beat it, Ojnoj entry 'Overload' by Life Of Dillon, came 21st in the final. Because that makes sense.

Nonetheless, a big thank you on behalf of PNB to all international voters who made this win possible. 32 countries voted for 'Habib Galbi', with 13 of those ranking it in their top 3; it received 18 points from three countries (Jadakissnia, π and Republic of Adonia), 15 points from six (Beaverdonia, Danaelanda, Fljótavík, Kluminican Republic, N DNTN and Trifoski) and 13 points from four (Desbuanda, D'yermak'er, Harmonica and Numayania). Notably two out of three of those who gave it 18 were voting for us for the first time - Jadakissnia in their debut contest (which also saw them receive 18 points in return from Persephonia in a rare top mark swap) and Republic of Adonia after several of our previous entries had just missed out on their points.

'Habib Galbi' - sung in Arabic - is only the fourth song without English language lyrics to win the main contest, following Ashton's Molly Sandén with 'Mitt Liv Är Mitt' (sung in Swedish) in BJSC XXVIII, Daehun's Indila with 'Dernière Danse' (sung in French) in BJSC LXI and our own previous winner Jay Dabhi and Moises Modesto's 'Cry For Freedom' in BJSC LXVII, which remains the only fully instrumental winner. A-WA also become the first Israeli winners, the thirteenth different lead artist nationality to win.

The city of Carellis is currently undergoing preparations to host a second time, details on Perseventyfive to be unveiled SOON.

Final results commentary + Persephonia's televote results

We were joined by a familiar friend in the top 2 - the hosts Daehun with their auto-qualifier '2080-luvulla' by SANNI. It's the second time we have made up the top two with them and we exact our REVENGE on them after our entry to BJSC LXI, Kids Of The Apocalypse's 'EMPIRE', came second to the aforementioned Indila. Nonetheless it's a second consecutive top 2 finish for Daehun, a third consecutive top 3 and a fifth consecutive top 10, while they also still hold the record for longest current streak of final appearances. Very impressive. But still floppy. '2080-luvulla' was comfortably leading for a lot of the reveal, as much as 100 points ahead of us at one stage, but like 'Cry For Freedom' our entry crept up and overtook at the last minute. SANNI finished on 317 points, 27 behind A-WA.

Unovia managed only their second top 3 finish ever with Courtney Barnett's 'Pedestrian At Best' matching their previous peak of 3rd (first achieved in BJSC XL with The Charlies' 'Monster (Eat Me)'). They received 287 points which included ten sets of 18 points, matching Indila's (her again) record for most top scores received in the contest's history. Scaling new heights were Danaelanda who broke their top 5 duck two months after they broke their top 10 duck. Their entry 'Stay' by Colleen D'Agostino feat. deadmau5 came 4th with 276 points. A bit more successful than our deadmau5 entry. The top 5 was completed by Aquafina, with a second top 5 in a row and 3rd in the last 4 contests, 'Insomnia' by Audien feat. Parson James in 5th with 257 points.

Elen Levon joined the probably not very long list of acts to come top 10 three times but never win, finishing 6th alongside Spada on Ramrynia's latest entry 'Cool Enough'. She had come second twice before, representing Ashton and then Ramrynia (because they are dirty recyclers). Flashbacks to our last win as machineheart seem to be our lucky charm, they cropped up again this month with the Myles Travitz remix of 'snøw' finishing 7th for #00274E. Someone enter machineheart again this month so we can have back to back wins. FARC achieved back to back top 10s with Tkay Maidza's 'U-Huh' finishing 8th (thus meaning the AQ curse was absent this month), Séyetana made a comeback with Against The Current's 'Paralyzed' coming 9th after 2 DNQs in a row and Cadelicia completed the top 10 with 'We Have To Talk' by About The Girl, a second top 10 finish for them and one place off their peak.

Six countries made their first final this month including 3 out of 4 of the brand new countries. Land of DW have waited the longest out of the six, after opening with 5 DNQs in a row they finally qualified with Wibi Soerjadi's 'Undaunted' which finished 24th in the final. Triangledonia had their first qualifier on their third attempt with Diviners' 'Tropic Love' (feat. Contacreast) which ended up 38th, and 'Shimmy' by Preeya Kalidas feat. Mumzy Stranger, Beaverdonia's real debut entry following their buzz entry Mazoo And The Zoo, came 18th. The battle of the debuting nations was won by Jadakissnia who came 13th with first entry 'Curtains' by Last Lynx. Aprogonia and Cor Lupus battled it out for second highest debut with the former just winning, they finished 30th and 31st respectively with Elin Bergman's 'Shoot You Down' and Brielle's 'Catch A Star For You'. Flynnonda sadly DNQed with their debut entry, Lux Lisbon's 'Get Some Scars'.

A rebrand for the country FKA Jamvale, now Mulgracia, seems to have worked as Elicit's 'I Wanna Be Your Lover' became their first song to make it through a semi-final since their win in BJSC LXVIII. It just missed out on the top 10, ending up 11th. Ultraviolenceland continued to see their fortunes improve, setting a new peak of 25th with Kinnie Lane's 'Je Te Suivrai'. Singerpurear managed a rare and well-deserved qualification with Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar's 'Love Mera Hit Hit', only their 4th final out of 24 attempts, finishing 32nd. The wooden spoon went to N-Lazone with the Chris Henry remix of Therese's 'Missing Disco' finishing 42nd out of 42, but thanks to the scoring system and participation numbers they hardly walked away empty handed as they still tallied 133 points.

If you're still with us after the latest monthly babble (or have just scrolled down to this part that you might care about), here are Persephonia's full televote results for BJSC LXXIV :magic:
