BBC R1 played twice today lol...a bit disappointed on the 18 position. I thought on the Christmas eve effect that could pull through more positions...which did not have ( she did fine)...also Winter Wonderland gained about 450k streams from Germany Italy Switzerland and Austria playlists..still gutted they did not put OMS instead could have gained a lot more globally...also wondering about US, OMS never made the top 200.. Curious to know how many plays she received there yesterday

the Buble song is a cover of a well known Christmas classic (originally from the 1950s by Perry Como). Leona doesn't have that.

Been so pleased with it’s performance this year, especially compared to the last few years. You don’t become a classic overnight, but OMS does look set to become a regular Christmas staple here. Hoping it manages a climb in the chart this week before it’s inevitable plummet out of the top 100 next week.

 

I have noticed Winter Wonderland doing well on spotify. Of course I would rather it was OMS, but it is all good promo for Leona and the album. Bar Your Hallelujah, Ave Maria and Silent Night, all of the other tracks appear to have done well on spotify this year.

Remember Buzzjack fans on here demanding that AWFULLLLL Your Hallelujah as single and X Faccy performance?! :rofl: It is DIRE, the worst song on it÷!

Buble is the biggest Christmas album seller in the world, so yeah.

 

She’s done incredibly well to pass over half a million in one day!

So happy she managed to increase her streams so much on Xmas day! She overtook Ariana finally and looks likely to rise in the official charts come friday. Hopefully top 30!

 

Hopefully she'll be kept on all the Christmas spotify playlists for next year so she'll be on them all from the get go! :cheer:

Then if she is, hopefully radio, excepting BBC of course, will get on board earlier with higher support.

Why do Radio 1 support Kelly's one in that case then? She's about as 'relevant' as Leona isn't in the UK.

 

 

To be fair on Kelly her albums have all been top 10 (bar the recent one)...

Also re Elton John he has done a lot better than Leona overall this year as he went top 20.

Really? I would not say that Love so Soft is a huge song around the world. The album also underwhelmed outside the US.

Her last 3 albums have been successful in the US but not that well received WW.

 

I've said this for years - Kelly will always have a career off the back of the Breakaway album.

 

As a fan of Kelly's work pre 2011, I have not purchased an album since All I Ever Wanted. Reason - poor single choices probably.

 

 

Lets leave Kelly alone and lets concentrate on Leona and how she has had a better chart run with OMS this year than she did with the entire I Am era hahaha

But with Christmas songs relevancy isn't taken into account (Radio 1 wouldn't touch any of Mariah's latest singles). Radio 1 continuously play Christmas songs by like The Glee Cast, Macy Grey, The Darkness, CeeLo Green and Gabriella Cilmi none of whom are any more relevant than Leona in the UK right now :lol: , and none of them have Christmas songs as big of a hit as One More Sleep (Maybe the Darkness). It's just odd if they don't wanna play a Christmas song that's been popular enough to be top 40 the past 3 weeks, but I guess they just don't want to.

But since since this is a Xmas related thread: Kelly's Wrapped in Red charted at #64 and Underneath The Tree at #30

 

And before that she didn't have a top 10 since 2012. She definitely has more success in the US than Leona, but that's because it's her country. It's quite impossible to compare as Kelly has released more albums than Leona, but I think Leona is doing better in the UK.

Darkness is the biggest Christmas song since Mariah, but yes it is odd they are ignoring Leona ... and for what? That makes me come back to the point of a radio vendetta... If they are playing those awful Glee songs...

The album did go to #2 in America though and also top 10 in Canada (#4) and Australia (#6) only just missing out on the top 10 in the UK (#11) but still a higher placing than Leona's last album (#12). Also Kelly's Stronger (in last 3 albums) was her second most successful in the UK and charted in the top 10 all over the world.

 

I'm a big big Leona fan but the person above is right Kelly Clarkson is a much bigger 'star' or 'name' than Leona. Shame really because Leona truly had the potential to be the next Whitney she started off so huge, but couldn't maintain it for longer than one album (worldwide).
